Poured dark and 'comes up' like one of Dublin's finest. Sports better than a full finger foamy tan head that resists fading. The visible effervescence compliments the mouth feel and overall experience. Timid light roast to the nose, gentle roasted malt flavor and medium body...one can't help but draw comparisons. This one is noticeably sweeter with a little more to the mouth being slightly grainy and fuller. One heck of a nice drinker.

On cask at the Goose Island Clybourn Brewpub. Pours a deep chestnut brown with a single finger of tan head that retains well and leaves mild lacings.

Aroma is of rich caramel malts with some chocolate mixed in. lightly sweet with a touch of hazelnut and toffee as well.

Taste is more of the same with a more distinct hazelnut and toffee note, on top of the same caramel and chocolate from the aroma. A heavy brown on the palate with a solid richness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and super smooth on the palate with a finish of residual caramel and coffee note.

Drinkability is good. A solid brown on cask with a rich character and a drinkable aura. Another solid cask brew from GI Clybourn. Cheers!

On tap at the Clybourn brewpub. Pours dark brown with a finger and a half of off-white head.

The aroma is largely dominated by nutty, roasty malts with a slight suggestion of hops.

Tastes more or less exactly like it smells, with nutty malts and sweetness throughout and some balance from hops on the finish.

Lightish mouthfeel and good drinkability, but nothing special here-- this is just a bog standard brown ale.

Pours a deep chestnut brown color with a finger of light tan head over top. There is a moderate carbonation that helps maintain the head. Clarity is good. The nose on the brew is a mild roast with some solid nutty tones. There is a faint coffee aroma in there as well. I think this one smells nice. Taking a sip I find a very solid roast character that is backed with some more subdued and blended nutty notes. There is a nice sweetness that gives me impressions of light brown sugar. There is a very mild bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is right at moderate and the carbonation is rather mild. I would like a touch more bubble in there, but it is not anything major, just my desire. I really enjoy the flavor on this one. It is incredibly easy to take down a whole lot of it, so this one is a winner in my book.

Pours a dark mahogany with brown highlights and a tan head that recedes rahter quickly leaving just a trace of lace.
Aroma of leather, brown sugar and chocolate dominate with a little bit of estery fruit and some spices lingering in the background.
Flavor has mainly different chocolate tones to it with some molasses/honey sweetness and just a faint whiff of roasted nuts and smoke.
Mouthfeel is actually on the light bodied side of medium. Tad too thin given the flavor profile but not too bad. Just a pinch of bittering cuts the sweetness appropriately.
drinakbility is solid. Definitely a sessionable beer and one to come back to at some point. Could use a little more body to round into a really good beer.

Served on draught at the Clybourn location. Reviewed from notes.

Rusty-brown in color with a thin layer of bubbles atop it. Aroma of molasses and malts.

Flavor is slightly syrupy-sweet, with some dark fruits. I liked this, but the sweetness became a bit much by the end.

Still, a decent sipper...

Had this on tap with a Pastrami sandwich.

Pours a dark reddish brown with a thin head that sparsely laces the glass.

Smells slightly spicy sweet - a bit like pipe tobacco - but mostly like molasses. Overall it is a light slightly sweet and slightly spicy smell.

Taste is malty sweet with some dark molasses fruit component mixed with sparse dark spices.

Mouthfeel is a bit thin.

Drinkability is fine, but could be better.
