Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Belgian tulip glass.

A: Translucent orangey, red and dark brown hue. Starts with a 1/4" head that dissipates to a a heavy lacing that stays throughout the beer.

S: Banana, buttered bread goodness. Sniffs like a good dubbel should.

T: Starts with some nice buttered toffee and carmel notes. The alcohol hits the upper palate in the middle and just a hint of carmel and bitters on the back-end, though you have to search for the bitters.

M: Has that tight carbonation, Belgian bottle conditioned feel. Thought I doubt the 12 oz'ers are conditioned. Nonetheless the beer is charged with tight carbonation that provides a slightly lighter mouth feel (but still all Dubbel.)

O: I had this beer a week ago on tap (when I was thirsty) and it knocked my socks off. The bottle is a little less impressive but still a straight down the middle representation of a good Dubbel. As with most bigger Belgians this beer finds its sweet spot (pun intended) as it warms a little in the glass. I just wish I could drink it slow enough to get there.

32oz growler on tap at Ale Yeah (Roswell, GA). Served in a Terrapin snifter.

Pours a rusty red brown with a half finger of dirty sand colored head that fades fairly quickly and leaves small splotches of lace.

Aromas of candy sugar, yeast, caramel and bannana.

Spicey flavors up front. Spices, sweet yeasty funk, bannana, plum, apple, caramel, honey, clove and a bit of booze.

Medium thin body with moderate carbonation. Sweet yeasty spicy fruit finish.

A pretty nice dubbel. I tend to lean towards quads but this had some nice dark sweetness to it. Worth a go if it's available but nothing I'd recommend hunting.

2012 Vintage

A: Pours a murky brownish amber in color with light amounts of visible carbonation and some reddish brown highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy beige head that slowly reduces to a medium to large patch of thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of sweet dark fruits (red grape and raisin) and malts.

T: Moderate amounts of malty sweetness upfront with moderate to strong flavors of dark fruits (red/purple grape and raisin). That is followed by the lighter flavors of Belgian yeast, candi sugar, and just a hint of spicy hops. Minimal amounts of bitterness in the finish. Light notes of alcohol in the finish.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin with some light alcohol warming in the finish.

O: A little too hot with the alcohol which is not as well hidden as other examples in the Dubbel style - slightly too boozy for my personal preference. This beer needs to be slowly sipped to be enjoyed.

I'm not a fan of Belgian or Belgian style ales, but for some reason I REALLY like abbey ales. this is a good one if ya find It, give it a try.
appearance: clear crimson/amber brown color, with nice 1 inch off white head.
smell: smells caramelly and sweet sugar some light malts and slight spiciness.
taste" similar to the smell, very balanced medium/light body
mouthfeel: a tad too much carbonation for me but not bad, id say 6 outta 10 but with 6 months or more of aging it will probably be great.
overall: good beer, from a great brewery and the price is awesome as well. I paid 9.50 for a 1 pint 9.87 oz bottle.
