I've had this beer many times... On tap and in bottles. Just realized that I've never reviewed it-- so here is a 2009 vintage poured into a snifter.

Well... looks just as good as I remember! Dark, viscous black. Brown head-- tight 2 fingers of thick creamy bubbles. Nice chunks of lacing hang on the sides of the glass, just frozen in time.

Well... The bourbon is still a giant part of this one! The chocolate notes have gained a little ground since this was fresh. The nose is still predominantly bourbon, followed by roasted chocolate and dry barley with an earthy and oaky note hiding in there too. All of those notes from the nose are found in the taste. A sweetness up front from the malts/chocolate notes turns slightly dry before the sweet bourbon and booze round out the finish. This is a fantastic little sipper!

This is full bodied, no holds barred, knock down drag out awesome! Rich and smooth feel with a creaminess that massages your palate and throat. This is an amazing big beer to sit and sip on. One of these is a nice treat. Two of these is asking for trouble. Three of them means you better set aside some bail money!

Served from bottle into Teku glass.

A - very dark, with a small amount of tan head that lingers arouns the glass

S - Mostly bourbon in the nose with a little bit of dark roasted malts and a little sweetness as well.

T - Lots of bourbon up front backed by good roasty flavors, coffee, chocolatte etc. Decent amount of alcohol burn, but with all the bourbon flavor this doesn't really seem like a bad thing.

M - thick and smooth mouthfeel, with a good amount of carbonation

O - Fantastic beer, really enjoyed this one, and at 15% enjoyed it slowly.
