Tap at the brew pub in Framingham.
Creamy 1 finger head fades semi slowly with some sticky lacing, super dark essentially pitch black color.
Nose add nice earthy hops, spicy and chewy hops, touch of pine and citrus, with some darker malts, not a huge malty nose, light crystal, light roast.
Taste starts with smashed hops, earthy, big time earthy but not herbal, chewy hops, light pine, fairly bitter, spicy hops, gets more bitter as it goes, light malts, some darker crystal and very light roast, chewy vegetative hopflavor, not much for malt. This beer just seems to be a method to hold the earthy hops as a substitute for the brighter hops of an ipa. Finishes a little fluffy, cleaner but quick finish, lingering bitterness but no real hop flavors left, little minerality.
Mouth is a little flat, med bodied decent carb but not what I expected for cascadian dark.
Drink is decent, bitterness builds but never gets to heavy, drier finish, light minerality.
Serving type: on-tap
