A dark and rosey copper colored brew, slightly hazed with a 2 finger oatmeal colored head and modest lacing. The aroma is heavy herbal hops and chocolate peanut and oak, quite interesting and edible. The flavor is similar to the smell, more balanced and more of a brown bread and chocolate molasses. I still get the herbal highlights but there is even some citrus and maybe even pine bitterness here. It is mid-bodied, smooth in feel with just a vague hint of carbonation, resinous. It's a drinkable cask ale, no major alcohol going on, but very pleasant and agreeable. This was a very nice surprise and definitely recommended.
