Had on tap at the John Harvard's in Lake Grove, NY. Served in a pint glass. Served incredibly out of season but hey, I love Marzen no matter when I get it.
Look: orange body with no haze or anything like that. A thin, white head that fades fairly quickly and doesn't leave much in the way of lacing. Looks okay.
Smell: malty, some grain, a bit of Munich and caramel malts. Accurate for the style if not exceptional.
Taste: follows the nose with some toasted malt, Munich, and a little caramel sweetness with a bit of hops in the finish. Not a whole lot here but it represents Marzen pretty well.
Feel: medium bodied, moderately carbonated, and appropriate for the style.
Drink: easily sessionable. Though John Harvard's seems to make a point of never letting you know the ABV of their beers, this can't be more than 4.5%.
Overall: a decent Marzen even if its nothing spectacular. Worth a try if you're at the brewpub but I don't know if I would seek it out.

On tap at the JH in Lake Grove, NY
A - Pours orange with a white foam head on top. Very clear.
S - Very fall scents of chestnuts, pine, and wheat.
T - A good sweet to bitter range on this. Could stand to be crisper though.
M - Good drinker; could easily be a good Oktoberfest beer.
O - Not overwheling, but one of the tastier beer at John Harvard's.

The beer pours a amber/orange color with a thick frothy white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a nice malty scent that boasts of toffee and nutty notes. It's got a caramel edge that's also quite dry. The taste is average. It has a grainy, pale and Munich malt flavor that's caramelized for some light sweetness. It goes down easy with a dry finish. The mouthfeel is decent. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a decent beer, although it's a little on the grainy side.

On tap at JH. Pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malt. Flavor is sweet initially with some wheat and crackery malt notes and a fruity finish. The malt backbone is very nice. Super fresh and crisp. A surprising beer, especially considering that oktoberfest/marzen is not one of my favorite styles.

Poured a medium copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.
The smell featured a husky grain and a solid caramel malt.
The taste consisted of a firm toasted grain with some caramel sweetness. Smattering of noble hop dried the flavor out a bit.
The mouthfeel was of medium fullness with an astringent finish.
Overall a very nice and very drinkable marzen. Pretty well balanced.

Nice lace considering the thin head; amber color; clear
Mild malt aroma; light hop as aspected for the style.
Traditional flavor profile for a marzen. The malt is strong throughout the tasting; the hop is present, but only as a balance. The aftertaste is 50-50 blend of maltiness and hop. Fairly full bodied for the style.
Nice beer, excellent example of the style.
