Notes:
Staghorn is collaborative project from Beau’s and beer writer Jordan St. John, and was brewed in celebration of Toronto Beer Week. This Belgian Golden Ale was brewed with pilsner and wheat malts, Belgian Cascade hops, agave nectar, and hand-picked Eastern Ontario staghorn sumac berries. Mingled aromas of spicy cloves and white grapefruit are forward, with flavours of bubblegum and more grapefruit, as well as tart lemon courtesy of the sumac berries. The body is crisp, highly carbonated, and finishes dry.

On tap at The Only Cafe. Yellow, with rising carbonation bubbles. Some head, and very thick laceing. Creamy weissy, a good drinker and a cross style, featuring essentially yeast and wheat, with signifcant weiss element.I would like more hops. Carbonation appropriate.

Tulip at The Only. Pale golden due to pislner and wheat malts, good inch of foam on top that recedes to a collar, lots of bubbles coming up.
Nose is slightly herbal, real dry, some musty hay, lemon, esters. Layers of complexity in the taste, belgian golden meets slightly gruit-like combo that seems to work, lemon, herbal, grass, slight spiciness, slight fruitiness in the hopping, sharp carbonation, bone dry finish. Moderate hop finish. Grows on you as you drink, which I dig. Not something that blows you away but something you warm to and grow to appreciate. Well done.

On cask at the Monk's Table for Barrel Bragging Rights, into a sampler tulip. A Belgian golden strong with sumac - collaboration with Jordan St. John.
Poured clear gold, filtered with no head. Nose of honey, typical golden ale malts, light sugary sweetness, gentle herbal and berry character perhaps imparted by the sumac. Taste is a bit grainy, golden ale malts again, sweet, with some wood and mild herbal character again. A bit of alcohol, but the low cask carbonation detracts. Carbonation would have made this substantially better, and I await trying this bottled.
