A- Poured into my DFH chalice... aggressive pour leads to a huge rocky head that slowly disappears leaving behind a nice clumps of froth stuck to the glass. Beer is amber in color with some light activity

S- Lots of bitter citrus in the nose, mostly grapefruit and tangerine notes

T- Lots of citrus hop flavor though not intense. Seems to be the tiniest hint of sweetness that manages to come out in the finish... possibly what puts the damper on a lingering hop bitterness in your mouth

M- Medium body with light/medium carbonation

O- A solid beer, though there's other Boulevard offerings I'd spring for before this one

600ml brown bottle, freshness date on the bottle tag.

LOOK: Hop hazed amber, superb looking head

SMELL: Dank, resin, grapefruit rind, pineapple skin, fresh grass, caramel, alcohol

TASTE: Smooth, bitter, cotton candy, treacle, earthy, leafy, hop oil, grapenuts, tropical esters, bready, bitter dry finish

Insanely bitter, obviously did not hold back here. A palate destroyer with out a doubt. Hoppiest / bitterest beer I have had to come out of Canada. Keep it up guys!!

Subscription series. Big carbonation, but still several weeks from bottling may have tamed the hop punch from this, as evident in the nose. Orange body with a bubbly head, Lacey. Citrus,mango, drying finish.Average moutheel,decent drinkability.OK for the style.

On tap at the Rhino for the Doublewide release party, into a Beau's branded pint glass.

Pours reddish with some mahogany hues, a finger and change of white head. Light retention but solid lacing. Nose has spicy, herbal and grapefruit (among other citrus notes) and a bit of sharp alcohol. Big, bready caramel base supports this. Taste reflects these qualities quite well, spicy herbal and rich citrus hop notes come through, again with only a dash of alcohol. Malt base is prominent as well, with a long herbal bitterness in the finish. Big full body and a medium low carbonation that hits the nail on the head for this beer. Great feel and well crafted - a nice homebrew that did well when ramped up in scale.

Beau's Caba Caba Hey! Pro-Am series No. 03 brewed in collaboration with Great Canadian Homebrew Competition winner Brad Clifford. Delivered from the brewery on the day of release, served at about 50 in a wide-mouthed wine glass in two servings.

Pours a slightly hazy, rusty amber colour with a moderate light beige head that leaves some spotty lacing and settles as a thin collared film.

Somewhat subdued, if not balanced aroma for the style with a summery undertone. Bitter grapefruit citrus and caramel are mingled with fruity notes that remind me of pineapple and honeydew.

The taste is markedly bitter with a distinct citrus flavour that's somewhere between grapefruit and orange peel. Toasted yeast and malts create a bread-like backing that soak up some of the bitterness in the finish.

Full-bodied with a mild carbonation. No trace of the ABV in the taste, but I certainly felt it. Very heavy, malty and bready on the tongue with a slight creaminess that helps ease it down. The aftertaste has earthy and toasted tones about it.

Extraordinarily drinkable offering that is a bit of a departure for Beau's in that it lacks their characteristic "farm fresh funk".

Heavy on the bitterness and it has traditional hophead flavours with a solid and nicely-balanced backing. Maybe they should consider brewing this one again, I'd love to have a good, Ontario-brewed DIPA available.
