The beer advocate boys are tough or got a bad batch. Three sheets does not deserve an "F" and would recommend a re-try. My guess is they got some in the US which was spoiled. They need to try it fresh and I believe they would at least give it a "D"....I mean c'mon this is better than Bud Light! Anyway, I thought it was quite tasty. It was a lighter beer, good for the summer months. It wasn't an all-powerful West Coast pale ale, more of a East Coast pale with hints/scents of fruit. Dont be swayed....at this try it.

Look - hazy body. Orange-amber. One finger off head head does not stay around.
Smell is a little peach, a little mango, but not alot going on.
Taste is very pleasant drinking from the get-go. Sweetish fruit salad notes on front palate, and a little hop bitterness. Little yeast. Integrated tase, nothing dominates.
Mouthfeel light and sessionable.
Very good session beer.

A - Cloudy orange body with a finger of white head from an aggressive pour. Faint short webs of lace.
S - Mild tropical fruit hops with some sweet malt.
T - Follows the nose, traces of green apple. Not much punch.
M - Light thin body, low carbonation. Watery.
O - OK balance and not the worst pale ale on the market but much better options available.

Slight cloudy light golden appearance. Low carbonation. Thin frothy white head. Very little sediment in the bottle if it is bottle conditioned. Some previous reviews mention this as a low point so not sure if they have modified their process but looks fine now.
A gentle mix of malt hops and yeast. Not quite expected for the style, but certainly not unpleasant. Light citrus and yeast esters with a bit of malt sweetness.
Similar makeup in the taste. Light hop and yeast character supported by backing malt sweetness. Low bitterness but enough for balance. Yeast character comes out a bit more as it warms.
An interesting beer this and a bit tough to review. Not sure if it's brewed as an EPA or just classed wrong here. If the style here is wrong it's probably closest to an American blonde, but even then the yeast is still a but out of place. In it's favor though, it's flaws are not deal breakers and may just be part of the character of the beer.

Reviewed from notes taken on a recent trip to Sydney.
Served in a wine glass. Glass of cold water on the side to sip from periodically.
Appearance: As served the beer is an orange/light brown color with a ¼" white head that recedes slowly to a small ring around the glass. At first sipping leaves some lacing but by midway through the beer not much lacing is left.
Smell: The aromas include light malt character, some fruity touches and some nice fragrant but subtle grassy hops. But they are faint and hard to sort out.
Taste: The flavors include some light citrus and other fruity character with some light hop bitterness, mostly grassy.
Edit: After filing this review and then looking through some of the other reviews it seems to me there is a big difference between having the beer fresh on tap at the brewpub and having it from a bottle.
Mouthfeel: The mouth feel was medium to light bodied and soft with light carbonation. The finish is medium length with the sweetness disappearing first to leave behind some grassy bitterness that fades away relatively soon.
Drinkability: I thought this one reasonably drinkable, both before dinner and as a companion to the Thai seasoned Baramundi dish I had for dinner. While it doesn't make my list of top Pale Ales, I certainly would not turn down another.

This pours a bright golden colour. Almost looks unnatural. Not much head to speak of. Cloudy.
I'm getting some weird aroma but I can't really identify it. Doesn't smell good though. It almost smells like powdered Gatorade. It's got a tartness to it. When I give the glass a good swirl I occasionally get some ok hop aromas but not a lot.
The palate is really dead. If I trusted my tasting ability a bit more I'd say it was infected but I'm not really sure.
I will try and get another bottle from another source to review later but this one will have to stand for now.
Have another bottle.
Colour the same.
The aroma is still a little strange but at least now on the fruity side of strange. Actually they grow on you.
Taste marginally better but still not that impressed. Definitely not infected.
I keep getting told how good this on tap. Looks like I'll need to head to Sydney sometime soon.

Pours dark amber with a white suddy head.
Nose shows next to no hops, just some faint grassy notes. Some sweet caramel is noticeable, but it seems stale. Some sulfur and vegetal characters put the final nail in the coffin.
More of that dirty malt shows up as a flavour but, in a redeeming note, the caramel is more noticeable. Finishes with a very mild, plain bitterness.
Low carbonation, body is too heavy in my opinion.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine March 2007
Pours a hazy, orange-amber; crowned with a thick, fizzy, white foam head that drops to a semi-translucent white lace with poor head retention. Unfiltered, so there is some sediment and white chunks in the beer.
Bready, baker's yeast, fruity esters, powdery pale malts, and a note of cider fermentation in the nose. Smooth and watery on the palate, with a fizzy carbon- ation in the back. Malt flavors are thin and non-distinct, lending little sweetness. Semi-sharp character akin to a young homebrew with a cider bite. Apple-juice fruitiness with skins beneath. Very musty, like an old, damp cellar, with an unpleasant yeast character towards the semi-drying finish.
The brewer should have noted that the beer is unfiltered, so consumers can properly decant without getting sediment in the glass. Very amateurish, and an absolute discomfort to consume. No redeeming qualities.

Appearance - 2.0
Pours a finger of loose white head that quickly disappeared over a cloudy body that looks like something between iced tea and peach nectar.
Smell - 3.0
Sweet, fruity, yeasty aroma of pear, red apple and caramel.
Taste - 3.5
Definitely more of an Australian pale or sparkling ale than an English pale ale. Soft, yeasty and slightly fruity, red apple, bready malt and a little caramel. Leafy and metallic hop presence is certainly there, tastes like Pride of Ringwood, moderately bitter.
Mouthfeel - 3.5
Very smooth, fine carbonation, feels quite syrupy in the mouth.
Drinkability - 3.5
A little heavy in mouthfeel to make a good session beer. Not hard to drink though, plenty of flavour.
OVERALL - 3.2
An average Australian brewed beer. I like to support the locals, this is quite tasty but not something I would pay money for again.

(Served in a nonic)
A- This beer has a clear body with just a slight hazy causing it to glow a golden orange body in the sunlight. The head is a big cloud of white foam that is bubble and soon disappears. There are little white floaties swirling around in the beer with some strands of bubbles trailing up to the surface.
S- The soft nougat note gives way to pale dry malt and a light sulfury finish that has a nice green woodruff note to it.
T- The soft clean pale malt flavor is dry with a following of light green herbal flavors in the finish. There is a clean sulfur note in the finish that covers the green hop note a bit.
M- This beer has a light mouthtfeel with a fizzy finish.
D- This beer has a pretty light lager characteristic with not much depth of flavor. The only real hops flavor bitterness, but there are no off flavors.

Served in an appropriate pint glass(which is hard to find in Sydney). Great apprearance in an orange/brown hue. Refreshing to find a Pale Ale with some flavor after tasting many subpar lagers. Taste of slight citrus and moderate hop afterbite. Not the same magnatude of hop aroma as American PA's but drinkability with the low abv was great. Best of the PA's I tried in Australia.

Serving 330ml Bottle.
Pours a cloudy Pale amber.
Smell - Apples, pears, plenty of yeast/ phenolic/ cloves.
Taste - Seems quite yeast driven, apple and pear flavour comes through. no real bitterness.
Mouthfeel - medium to light, pleasing carbonation.
All and all, a pleasing summer session beer. Noithing that'll rock your world. But after a hard days work, this would be a great pale ale to have.

It tastes quite home-brew like, but also reminds me of British golden ales I've tried.
A merky golden body is evident after pour, as is a deliciously rocky head that sticks to the glass. The head has amazing staying power, even during the drink.
I personally didn't find anything particularly impressive about the aroma - however some light fruit scents such as pear were a nice suprise.
The high carbonation and light-fruit flavours are very pleasant - apricot is something instantly recognised amidst the many flavours, with some mild spice finding its way onto my palette too. It's suprisingly complex, but supurbly balanced. Unfortunately it's balanced to the point where if you weren't investigating the taste, you might even call it bland.
The mouth-feel is nothing to write home about, and the aftertaste is crisp and bitter - definately not highlights of this brew, but don't detract from the delightful flavour.
Definately try this one if you're a fan of the style!
