Stopped by on a mid-Friday afternoon. Another chill craft brew spot in FTW.
Since we were in so early, our barkeep was extremely helpul with descriptions and types of beers, offering samples to us visting Coloradans.
Had a nice mix Texas craft brews along with international and US craft staples.
Enjoyed the rustic all-wood look and the couches in the back looked very comforable.
My only complaint was the ability to smoke in the place, which got more annoying as more started sparking up (take that sh*t outside fools, I don't want to be a part of your lung decay).
Aside from the smoking, the atmosphere and selection was top-notch.

Been waiting for a cool day to rate Ginger Man, since it's got a really nice outside area that's unfortunately unbearable June through August. Always a great selection at Ginger Man and they somehow never seem to be out of what they show on the menu. It's a plus that you can purchase their tap beers in pitchers. Food is pretty standard bar faire, good but not great. Servers generally good and helpful but occasionally seem to dissapear without a trace for a half hour at a time. Vibe seems really variable on the half dozen visits I've made - some nights it's almost empty with just a few lonely down and out types sitting at the bar, other nights it's filled to the brim inside and out with young happy professionals. Overall a very enjoyable establishment and seems to get better with every visit.

Stopped in here around 1400 on 15 Aug 2011 after a minor cultural day in Ft. Worth.
Found an empty sixth of Sam Adams in the parking lot on our way in. Got some odd looks as we entered with it. About 60 or so beers on tap, with another 70 in bottles. Well selected but nothing really out of the ordinary. I got the Live Oak Hefe, which was significantly better than the one I had at Crickets a couple of days ago. A got the Franconia Kolsch.
A little dark because all the blinds were drawn. Comfortable leather couch. Wooden bartop, brick and wood floors. Largish collection of empty beer bottles, but w multiple duplicates. A jukebox plays some of your favorite hits. A couple of TVs were showing golf. Darts towards the back left. Some outdoor seating as well.
Bar was a bit smoky even though there were only about three patrons and only one was smoking.

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon during a Mavs game. Walked right up to the bar to meet with a friend from out of town.
Had a great time. Relaxed atmosphere and a draught selection of about 30 or so. Bottle selection was broad, but there was more than enough on tap to keep me interested.
Bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and more than willing to pour samples or make recommendations. He just happened to overhear my friend and I mention curiosity about a Kolsch, and he had a sample for us the next sample, but he didn't say anything. Absolutely terrible. I learned to take this guy's recommendations. All pints were served in correct glassware.
I would highly recommend this place to locals and those just visiting Fort Worth. Relaxed atmosphere, great staff, great selection, and plenty of seating options inside and outside. Smoking can be a problem sometimes, but this past time it was just barely there.

Dog friendly out in the beer garden, which is always a hit with us. Smoking inside, which is a bit of a bummer...although that is more of a Texas law thing than a hit against the establishment. Pretty decent tap list and wicked friendly staff. The beers were reasonably priced and the place has a great atmosphere. Bar stools at the bar, booths and tables all around, an area with leather sofas, dart boards, a piano, and a spacious beer garden. Pretty sure I saw a tasting group while we walked through with the pooch, as they were sitting around a table with a pretty large bucket filled with chilling bottles of many a brew. Also, while we were walking out we passed a guy carrying in a couple cases of many brews, so they are apparently open to all kinds of group meetings. We also met a guy there that runs a homebrew group, and they were having a meeting later that night. Seems like a happening stop for the local beer fans. They had chips and other snacks for sale at the bar, and my wife scored a root beer float (which she had been craving for a while), so there are some snacking options. Not sure about a full menu, as we were just swinging through and didn't want a meal. Definitely worth a stop if you are local, and even if you are passing through. We would absolutely go again.

Last visit was on 1-28-11 with a friend, on a Friday night and we took a seat at the bar which was surpisingly not very crowded. The outside patio was more busy than the inside. Not 10 secs. after we sat down the bartender introduced herself and offered us a menu. There were two bartenders that night and they seemed to be very knowledgable about the beers they served, even offering us samples to try before hand.
It was during Stock Show weekend and they had $3.50 pint specials on Rahr Bros, which I took advantage of with an Iron Thistle and I finally had their BBWW(1/2 pint, definately worth the wait). Finished the night with a DFH 90min.
Was only there about an hour and a half, so didn't have time to try out others, but their beer menu had a pretty good selection of domestic and foreign lagers and stouts to choose from. IPA selection, however, was kinda limited.
Definately a place I'd like to try again soon, when I have a little more time to really walk around and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. I was told they had a dartboard, which is something I could get into. Also noticed that they allowed pets(I'm assuming patio only), which is cool.

I visited the Metroplex over the weekend and assurbanipaul suggested I visit the Gingerman. We arrived shortly after the place opened and were the fourth and fifth folks to arrive, if you count the beer salesman having a sandwich at the bar. We seated ourselves at the bar, and we drooled over the selection.
The bartender was Molly, a short, dark haired, no-nonsense lady who had a pretty smile and twinkling eyes. I spotted the Franconia Spelt tap and asked for a pint. She gave me the once over, and said, "Let me pour you a sample first."
Butterscotch beer. And I hate butterscotch. Sigh. Maybe another day, Franconia! Thanks, Molly, for giving me a heads up.
We spent an enjoyable three hours there, chatting with Molly and having beers I just can't get at home. By the time we left the place was packed and coming to life. I wish I lived closer. It seems like a great neighborhood place.

this where i had my first beer the bar tender was patient ask me what kinds of flavors liked in general form fruits to honey to coffee and they let me try a sip before i bought a glass. the atmosphere was very laid back although i admit have only been there on Saturday afternoons its nice to place to relax have a beer and play some darts. the only down side is the price for a barley wine glass of saint st. Barnards is about 12 bucks and that seems a bit high to me. if did not work at night i would be in there more often

I've visited the Ginger Man twice recently, once to try the initial release of the 2009 Rahr & Sons Whiskey Warmer, and once to get a Stella Artois glass on glass night.
On the first visit, the place was packed, so we had to sit outside under a light rain next to a table of violently loud college students. Service was okay, but the atmosphere drove us away after one beer.
On the second visit, we got a table inside and proceeded to wait 15 minutes for the waitress (she appeared to be the only one in the whole place) to take our order. It took another 10 minutes to get our beers. The waitress (I referred to her as Haley's Waitress in my Facebook posting that evening) didn't come back for 45 minutes. We had been done with our beer for more than 20 minutes at that point. We finally ordered our second beers, telling her we wanted to be sure we got the glasses. 15 minutes later, a bar back delivered our Stellas in regular pint glasses and told us they were out of the free Stella glasses. We sent the beers back, and had to go find the waitress to ask for our tab.
So, I've been to the Ginger Man twice, for a total of about 2 hours, and I've only had 2 beers there. They have a reasonable beer selection, but the service was the worst I have ever received at a bar, and the atmosphere was too loud (although, the music, when you could hear it, was very good classic rock). I think they need to hire more, and better, waitstaff. I recommend The Flying Saucer in downtown Fort Worth, instead - they have a much better beer selection, better prices, far better service, and a nice beer club for repeat offenders.

Finally made it to the Ginger Man in Ft. Worth for the first time the other night. I'm a little upset I haven't been here before! I really enjoyed the patio outside, I was even able to bring my dog. This was the first bar in the DFW that I've been able to bring my pup too so I was happy. Everything else was great too. I wish it had a little bit more selection with their beers from Texas but I'm just trying to be picky! Other than that I don't have any complaints, the staff was real nice and it was a nice clean establishment. I will definitely be back soon!
