This was a gift bottle brought back from Germany be a colleague.
Has a dark iced tea color to the body. A 2 finger head with rather rapid disappearance.
Has a very pleasant smell of banana and clove.
Taste - Very mild flavor profile. Sweet malt body and smooth finish. Some caramel flavoring and also some graininess presence.
Mouthfeel - very smooth and full bodied for a lighter ABV brew.
Overall - I think this is a fine and sessionable beer from Germany. Not world class, but its an decent flavored easy drinker. If offered its a reliable beer to not turn down.

The beer pours a dark cloudy amber color with a 1/4" head that fades to lacing. The aroma is light, but sweet from wheat and crystal malts. The taste is sweet. It is true to style and resonates of wheat flavor. The mouthfeel is decent. It is a medium bodied beer that has enough carbonation. It has a mouthfeel that sticks with you. It is a fine Dunkel and a good drinker. Thank's to my friend Chris for bringing this home from Germany.

500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. Brewed in Oettingers brewery in Schwerin. ABV is 4.9%. Hazy brown colour (looks like muddy water), large off-white head. Typical dunkelweizen aroma of yeast, rye bread, cloves and banana. Slightly sour and lemony flavour, light bodied, thin mouthfeel, notes of bread and cloves. Drinkable, but there are better dunkelweizens around.

Poured into a short tumbler. Pours a hazy light chocolate brown with a light tan fizzy head. The head drops leaving a light wisp of foam.
Aromas of yeast, banana, chocolate, and a light clove spiciness.
Flavors of banana, light cocoa, cloves, and yeast. Finish is medium with a spicy yeastiness lingering.
Mouthfeel is medium/light, with a nice prickle of carbonation.
Overall, a nice refreshing dunkelweizen, a little bland and lacks a richness of a classic, but good none the less.

Poured a thick, dense, cream colored head that lasted for days. Hazy chestnut colored beer has an amber hue. Lot's of yeasty banana in the aroma. Fresh, almost lemony flavor up front mixes with some of the banana that was in the aroma. Finishes a bit metallic and washed out. Moderately light body with a kind of fizzy mouthfeel. It's darker then a hefeweizen, but that's about it. Basically it's just an ok hefeweizen. The one thing this beer has going for it is value. It's roughly half the price of most beers in the supermarket (0.29 cents vs. 60) but tastes about 4/5's as good.

This is re labeled and packaged for the Korean market. Known as Wabar Dunkel, and is severed as the house beer for the Wabar beer bar chain in South Korea. I had this at the Wabar in Okpo-Dong.
A: Pours a clear dark brown/reddish color. Pretty clear with a bit of haze. A one finger beige head forms, and recedes in a second. Patchy lace is left behind.
S: Toasted malts, grain, husky wheat. A metallic aroma as well.
T: Follows the nose. The metallic flavor is a bit more prevalent than the nose. Light toasted grains and husky wheat again.
M/D: A light to medium body. Lively carbonation, but a bit watery. Not hard to put back a few, especially considering the other options in South Korea.
Ho hum and middle of the road, but again a better option than most other offerings in this part of the world. I am glad to see this instead of the other horrid adjunct lagers around South Korea.

So, as this is the cheapest bier that I have seen in the grocery stores here in Germany, I thought "what the Hell"
Pours muddy mahagony brown color, produces a rather nice fluffy light brwon head, foamy, slighly rocky, a pretty decent appearence.
Smells extremly sudued. The spicy clove-banana malt profile I like so much in this style is not there. Light bready malt, caramel, a bit of woody mustiness, a light yeatiness, and slightest smell of bittering hops, not too complex or very powerful.
Flavor is a bit better, but again severly lacking in complexity. Light peppery spiciness, caramel, bread, but really dominated by sweet maltiness. The muddy mouthfeel makes the brew come off as a bit akward or hastily made.
This is by far the cheapest beer in the stores, and I can see why, I will "sacrifice" the extra 40cents and drink world class qality from the likes of Weihenstephan, Ayinger, or Andechs.

Pours a hazy dark yellowish brown, good head but dissipates quickly. Faint aroma of wheat malt, very faint esters of lemon and clove. Flavor is a bit metalic and aquaous, a faint flavor of malt but nothing to write home about.
I´ve had a couple of original hefe´s that where kinda "hit and miss" so maybe make shure to get a fresh bottle of dunkel before rating this one.

500ml bottle purchased in Munich on a recent trip.
Quite cloudy medium brown colour. Shiny, solid off-white head with pretty good retention and lacing. Looks pretty good.
Slightly spicy, but quite subdued on the nose. Too much carbonation selzer-water smell. Really not much on the nose, and definitely none of the classic dunkelweizen character.
Pretty thin on the palate as well. Carbonic acid, a bit of spice, but very dry - not much sweetness or complexity. Mouthfeel is also pretty thin with only a slight post-carbonation prickle.
This is really disappointing, and should be a lot better. Very plain, with no complexity and no depth. A poor example of a Bavarian Dunkel.

Quite light amber color, with a beige creamy head.
In the smell malt, a bit of burnt caramel. Nothing more.
AT the taste is a bit different from a standard dunkel weizen. There is bread crust, some burnt caramel, and maybe a light vanilla.
Nothing remarkable, anyway.
Caramel in the aftertaste, but not too much. Again bread crust.
A bit strange.

. Never heard of the brewery/ seen this bottle before. Also picked up their Schwarzbier which was substantially better...
It's got the mouthfeel of a hefe and the appearance of a dunkel but the notes are incredibly mild/muddled with an overall grassy bitterness and earthy yeast note.
The bottle looked promising, but this beer didn't deliver.

Pours dark brown with large and airy head with ok retention, patchy lacing. Aroma is sweetish toasted malt, bread, wheat, some yeast.
Taste is watery with notes of sweet malt, light banana and some spiciness in the finish; bittery astringent aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light/medium with low carbonation.
Does not seem to be worth even those 29 cents it cost.

I had the Korean rebranded version, WABAR, but I'm given to believe it's the same stuff.
APPEARANCE: Beautiful head which hangs around for quite a while. Opaque brown colour. On the can there's instructions on how to pour it.
SMELL: A bit rubbery. Bit of caramel.
TASTE: Hardly any upfront flavour. Low carbonation. Bit of corn snack. A very slight touch of caramel and fruit. Ugh, leaves a sour yeast flavour on the palate.
OVERALL: Serious sour yeast problem. Not the worst beer I've had but half way to being undrinkable.

500ml Bottle into halleroder mini-stein (.3L) in Leizpig, Germany. Reviewed live. Bottle acquired at REWE stores, Berlin, for .40 Euro. (After the .08 pfand is returned, it ends up at .32 Euro.)
A: Five finger head of slight nice cream, good thickness, and good retention. Hazy caramel-brown colour. The colour looks a bit unnatural, which is unappealing.
Sm: Amber and caramel hops. That's it. It's pleasant, albeit a tad musty.
T: A crap hop medley of faux amber, stale caramel, and treated garbage barley. Bleh. Thankfully not simple, but far from good or refreshing. Largely unbalanced.
Mf: Smooth, a bit creamy, and nicely wet. Too thick and syrupy much to me chagrin.
Dr: Cheap as all hell and bad. Students rejoice; this is for you. Beeradvocates: carry on with your lives.

A cloudy dark orange/brown in color. Extremely heavy in the yeast smell. The taste reminds me of burnt wheat/yeast/caramel cracker with a heavy and long lasting after taste. Recommend that this be had only by extreme lovers of dark hefe beers, which is not really my style.
