Used to work right down the street from this place, yet rarely picked anything up from them. Standard stuff, pretty much only the largest breweries will have their stuff there (BMC, SA, SN, NB).
Very rare, if never, do they get limited release stuff, occasionally you'll find some seasonal stuff from the big guys like SN or Deschutes. Staff is pretty clueless when it comes to beer. Not much turnover in the bottles, its a chicken or the egg thing, do they not sell much bc people don't like the beer, or do serious beer geeks not go there because they know they don't stock anything they can't find at Wal Mart or a supermarket or whatnot?
If you're an exclusive NB or SN guy (I love SN but there's so much else out there to at least experience) then this place will suit you just fine. If you are looking for something different, go ahead, move along, these are not the beers you are looking for.

Ben's appears to be a small chain in this part of the world (I saw at least one more in Reno)- this one is centrally located in Carson City, near the 395/50 intersection. It has a standard liquor store feeling, but the coolers in the back have a decent selection of northern California/Oregon beers, such as Deschutes, Anchor, Sierra Nevada, Kona (Hawaii/California hybrid!), Lost Coast, and a decent selection of New Belgium from Denver. They seem to have several beers from each brewer, rather than just the most popular. Samuel Smiths and a few of the Youngs lineup coupled with a few German beers round out the selection. Also found Ruby Mountain from Wells, NV., which I had never heard of before. Of course it also has all the usual macros, but a strong percentage is craft and imports.
Service was average, nothing to get excited about.
This, in combination with Aloha Wine (down in the south part of town) are starting to create some craft beer options in the Eagle/Carson Valley area. Not great, but pretty good for this neck of the woods.
