Purchased at the Tesco supermarket. Bottle-conditioned, 500ml brown glass bottle. BB 17/06/09, served cool in a straight imperial pint glass.
A: semi-murky copper in colour, coming with a 1 cm thick beige foam lasting throughout the drink; fine & constant carbonation.
S: sweet-sour citric and pearish fruits plus a mildly peach-floral hint, but more like notes of oxidised fruits rather than lively and ripe ones... hop resins, caramely malts, and a little mustiness stay in the background. Neither particularly aromatic nor unpleasant.
T: the balanced but mild fruity foretaste of hops and crystal malts lead towards a long aftertaste mixed of roast nuts, grilled autumn fruit-slices, tea-leafy bitterness and dryish roast malts. Fuggle-like aromatic hoppiness linger along with the moderate level of bitterness, until reaching a pleasantly clean finish.
M&D: O'Hanlon's does know its bottle-conditioned beers, as shown in this bottle that is sufficiently lively and softly carbonated, while the balance b/w malts and hops is retained. Not really complex or delicious, suffering a little from the stale fruitiness on the nose, yet to me this is a quality drink all the same.

Appearance: orangey brown, a bit hazy, voluminous fine-beaded tan foam with great head retention
Aroma: caramelly malt, green pears, hint of citrus
Flavor: balanced malt profile with a twinge of acidity; fruity kiwi/pear/tangerine essence; hop bitterness is quite firm, almost like citrus oil; finishes dry with a lingering vegetal bitterness and hints of toffee
Mouthfeel: medium body, lively carbonation, slight astringency
Other comments: A slight odd-ball as much as it doesn't really have a name. It just says "Bottle Conditioned ALE" on the front. It's "Selected By Tesco". Either way, it's not a bad beer. A bit American in it's flavor profile, but that's not a bad thing.
