I showed up for happy hour (which is open to 3pm every day apparently). 3$ a pint for fine craft beer is unbelievable. They have the best German alt beer I have had in the states. Their IPA was very thick and balanced. The Kölsch was phenomenal. They only have 5 of their beers on tap but they had a few guest taps from other breweries and a craft cider. They do impromptu brewery tours if they aren't too busy so that is worth checking out.
They are pretty much all beer garden located in the historic district of Golden, behind a neat old Victorian style house. It's like drinking beer in the back yard. Very laid back and casual atmosphere.
They don't serve food but they had a food truck. They had guy who makes hot dogs out side and they were amazing. Biker Dave's gourmet hot dogs I think it was called. They do allow outside food which is a big plus for me.
the only down to this place is the lack of enough proper bathrooms. They have 1. but they hid some tacky porta pots around the corner, so, It works.
So all in all, amazing German beers, brewed true to style.

the place is very tucked away and chill lookin. its an old house with a rusty old fermenter in front, when you walk in there is a few tables as well as a soda cooler full of beer. the beers we had were all above par. we even ordered a pizza that was like some totinos or somethin but damn was it good and it wasnt greasy which is a problem i notice with alot of pubs food. there is a medium sized gravel seating area with white tables. on the side of the house is an outdoor serving window which i thought was real dope. behind the seating area is a taller building which is the brewhouse and the backyard of a larger, historic looking house. the atmosphere was unparalleled throughout my entire colorado trip.
for such a small place, the amount and variety of beers on tap was very impressive. most noteably was a hoppy brown cask, evolution ipa, and a very refreshing watermelon kolsch.

An awesome place to stop and have a beer if in the touristy town of Golden. I love the sign on the street corner. Golden's second largest brewery, in the shadows of one of the behemoths in the beer world. Ultra laid back and chill. The main area is basically a backyard with some picnic tables, and a tiny area inside that can maybe seat 6-7 people. A perfect spot for a few afternoon beers.
The selection is not as extensive as other places can be, but the quality is incredible. The main stays are a kolsh, alt, brown, stout, and IPA. Also a Gose and barleywine were both killed when I was there. Everything is very good to great. The IPA specifically is one of the best I have had anywhere. The Gose and Alt are both very unique styles and done perfectly. The quality here is top notch, all fresh as can be.
The service is very good. The one bartender and owner take care of everything and are very knowledgeable and personable. They gave a round of free beer out to some people that helped a family from the neighborhood find their lost dog. That is great. The food looked really good, but I did not grub. Pizzas, sandwiches, and salads that all look really well made.
Overall, one of my favorite places in the Denver area. All around top notch and well run. I would sit here all day if I could.

Golden City Brewery=a gem of a brewpub.
This small, hole-in-the-wall brewpub is located in a residential area near downtown Golden. Outdoor seating is far greater than indoor and where the majority of the patrons enjoy the beer. The occasion I went, my fiancee and I chose to sit inside which very much has the same feel of a coffee shop. This place is completely relaxing and down to earth.
They have six beers on tap. All six were excellent with the Evolution IPA, Mad Molly Brown, and Honey Saison sticking out as top of the bunch for us. They also have bottles available including the Barleywine that wasn't on draft. This place is a steal as well. Pints are $3.50, and the sampler of all six brews is $5.00. 22oz bottles are $4.
Good service. There's a convenient separate window that those sitting outside can order from so you don't have to keep walking in and out. I do think it's unfortunate that they don't take credit cards. I understand that there are legitimate reasons for establishments to not take them, but the bottom line is, it's inconvenient for the customer. ATM on site, though.
Not a ton of food to chose from, but they're very generous in offering free pretzels. Free 'anything' is rare.
Excellent place, and one of the more memorable brewpubs I've ever been to. I'd frequent it often if I lived in the area.

I heard about this place via a biking forum but couldn't find it the last time I was riding in the area. Last weekend, I was headed up to a race in the mountains. I decided I wasn't up for it, and headed back home via Clear Creek Canyon. I saw the giant Coors Brewery and it reminded me of this place. I had etched the address in my brain since I couldn't find it last time
Anyway, I got there about 40 minutes before they opened, so I went and wasted what I thought was enough time. I guess I was eager because I didn't waste much time. I asked some ladies setting up the patio if they would just let me buy some beer to go, and they opened up early for me.
The woman that was helping me seemed very preoccupied and wasn't too helpful about the beers, but I still gave them an exception service rating because they opened early.
I didn't get to hang out too long but the place seemed really cool. Nice and quaint. That is good atmosphere to me. Beer prices were pretty good. I got a growler with beer and two bomber for $16 including tip. I was happy with this place. I'm definitely going back soon, and suggest you go in you are in the hood.

When you talk about pubs being places to gather and chat with local folk, this place is it... but even better its outside and its not a pub. This brewery, in a converted garage, hosts cheap pints ($2.75) and pitcher ($8) in an enclosed back yard. Amongst the trees and foothills of golden colorado you can't beat the atmosphere here.
Service is a bit tough only because its so popular and you have to wait in line a bit to get served. Then again its so cheap you just get a few pitchers and minimize the line time.
You can bring food in or order delivery pizza if you wish ,but they provide no food there.
Lastly, because this is in a residential area they close at 6:30 and kick everyone out by 7PM. Probably just not to annoy the local residentail neighbors.
This is a must stop if you want to experience a brewery that defines roots craft beer movement.
Had a pint of Die Gosebier, red ale, brown ale, pale ale and oatmeal stout. All were excellent.

After finding this place, I discovered some really good beer. They excelled at IPAs and I enjoyed their others in a sampler. I bought bombers of their DIPA and bottles of their barleywines and they were a joy to consume. Unfortunately the place really doesn't have the amenities other places have and the building is rather old and plain lacking any sort of charm. It fits the bill if you want a place to hang with someone over a good beer, but is lacking in the "experience" department. A new facility and this place would be golden, maybe bring in some more styles and it definitely has real potential. Right now probably a mom and pop brewery. If I had the chance they currently make, I would probably buy their beers ALL THE TIME.

The atmosphere of this place is cool. Brewery is located behind the owners house. A small beer garden was open to the public yesterday and a fir pit was going for the people to keep warm and huddle around. Beer was available inside for purchasing. Very small inside, but nice and warm. A few tables and chairs with some board games, cards, and cribbage boards to pass the time while enjoying some fresh quality beers. What an awesome and chill place to enjoy some beers at the foothills of Golden and footsteps of Coors.
The quality and selection of the beer was good, but limited. They had 7 or 8 beers to choose from and also growlers, bombers, logs, and 1/2 barrels for sale too. The drafts we purchased were enjoyed outside near the fire pit and out back in the brewery while I was talking to one of the brewery employees. I even got a taste of their awesome barrel aged brew.
We called ahead to find out details, but our bartender and entertainer Josh was very courteous and nice. They only accept cash or check and they have pints and pitchers available for purchasing to be consumes inside or outside in the beer garden. I could see this place getting busy during the nicer warm weather months, but that didn't seem to affect us and fresh and quality beer is always worth the wait.
This was a great find and a few blocks away from the Coors brewery in Golden. Awesome people plus awesome beer equals a great time which the three of us had last night.

GCB keeps short hours, so check ahead of time if you are planning to visit. Another important note is that they do *not* take credit cards...so bring cash or be prepared to use the ATM they have on site.
Interesting to see this listing has been changed from brewery to brewpub. They don't have a functioning kitchen, so they can only offer frozen pizza, nachos chips, and other simple fare.
Golden City Brewing is located a few blocks west of Washington Street (the main downtown portion of quaint Golden..."Howdy Folks!). Parking may be difficult to come by, so you may have to park on the street some blocks away. While there is some seating inside, the main attraction is the beer garden on the south side of the building. It can be chilly in the winter, but in the summer it's a nice shaded place to enjoy a refreshing Golden City beer. They generally have ~6 beers on tap, often with something unique created by the brewer. If you enjoy hops, I highly recommend anything hoppy. For several years, the brewer has been experimenting with different hops/tinkering with recipes and his investment in learning is now paying dividends. There are a few playground items to entertain young children, but this is mostly a place where locals gather for a beer in good company.

I was in Denver for work and this little gem was recommended. My trusty GPS got me there fine and I parked on the lovely, tree lined street, almost in the shadow of the massive brewery down the hill.
Went into the taproom first. Small & funky, but with it's own character. Bartender was fast & courteous, even as he was showing a new employee the ropes. Sat inside & had the Evolution IPA. Very good for such a small place. Sipped & took in the atmosphere. Seems to be a very local hangout, as the staff seemed to know everyone. Finished the IPA and decided on their Octoberfest next. Took it outside to the beer garden to enjoy the sun. Nice color with a malt finish that didn't overwhelm.
Small area for kids to play & lots of tables & chairs. It was very relaxing to sit & read & catch bits of the happy conversation around me. Finished my Fest & got ready to go. This is a very charming and lo-tech establishment. I'd certainly not rule out a return.
While there is a porta-pot outside, there is a restroom in the tap house. Unisex, but clean.
