12oz bottle poured into a flute. Yeast roused before pouring. Notched freshness date indicated the month of bottling, though not the year. I'd guess this is at least a year old at the time of consumption, if not more.
A: Dark amber/red on the pour. Clarity is better than expected for the style; it is only slightly hazy. The rocky off-white head is long-lasting and impressive. Lots of clumpy lacing cements itself onto the sides of the glass.
S: Bready and wheaty with a porridge-like base smell. Pronounced esters of raspberry, golden raisin, and prune. Hints of peach cobbler. Caramel and warm vanilla. Pie crust, slight cocoa, and vague spice. No signs of alcohol on the nose.
T: Caramel and biscuit open. Estery prune and raspberry grab center stage for a while. Coarse wheat and dry cocoa begin to emerge. Spicy alcohol and peachy tropical esters have been tamed somewhat over time, but they're still here. Pie crust. Very subtle clovey/metallic phenols. Ghost-like fruity and grassy/herbal hop character. Drying wheaty finish with hints of nutty yeast and cocoa.
M: Full and rather rich. Thickish body. Slightly weighty and chewy, but a bit fluffy and very creamy at the same time. Moderate carbonation. Soothing warmth from the alcohol.
O: Age tames the alcohol a bit, but this is still a little more simplified and rough around the edges compared to the better examples of the style. A very admirable effort though, and the rarity of the style in this neck of the woods means that this is one of the better Weizenbocks available.

I bought a 4-pack of this recently at the Georgetown Deli ($10.99) and opted to quaff a couple on Sunday, 27JAN13.
Filled a small tulip with a deep, rich, slightly hazy chestnut/garnet brew. Head was thin, mostly a rim-job, off-white and fine. Lacing was rather sparse. Had some good malt on display in the nose, with a little caramel, and suggestions of alcohol heat. For the style, the mouthfeel was solid; medium bodied and fairly smooth going down.
Taste is malty all the way. Was a bit toasty, with hints of nuttiness, plus a touch of cookie dough. I also picked up flavors akin to brown bread. Everything got better as the bier warmed. Pretty good, all in all. Zum Wohl!!

Appearance - Pours a blood amber color (like red wine) with a half inch thick, off-white head. Leaves a nice, creamy lacing.
Smell - Sweet, caramel, very malty, and toasted malts.
Taste - The flavors are very strong up front, especially bitter. Spicy hops, toasted malts, sweet, dark fruits, somewhat nutty, and kind of floral. Also has a small alcohol bite to it.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with medium carbonation.
Overall - This is my first time trying this style of beer. I'm not exactly a fan

Pours a sweet ass amber with a one-finger head into my glass. I've seen other bocks so it's not too far off. Weizen...bock. Get it?
Aroma combines the best of a bock and a weizen. Sweet, chewy malt and clove-laden, banana-laced essence.
Taste isn't the same though, leaning more towards the sweet, chewy malt. I think that's how it's supposed to be anyway.
Caramel what? That's what I get in the mouthfeel. Not a bad thing. Just a bit "off".
Not bad. A style that is rarely recreated. It deserves more and I commend Atwater Block for attempting it.

This beer poured out as a deep reddish brown color with a tan colored head on top. The smell of the beer had a decent amount of malts on the nose, there is also an earthy lager yeast aroma as well. The taste of the beer is nicely balanced between the malts and the bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel of the beer is medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Overall it is a decent Bock to try. It's not something I would buy a whole case of it though.

Hopefully I'll like this offering more than most of the others form this brewery in the "D".Poured into a weizen glass a rich deep burnt orange infused amber with a sticky one finger off white head that settles nicely into a frothy mass leaving one big sheet of lace. Some green apple and bubble gum notes in the,not real assertive but not bad.A full rich feel to the beer adds to the drinkability, some dark fruit,banana/clove like yeasty notes, sweet alcohol, and caramel toffee on the palate. The best beer from AB to date for me,it's big but still quite drinkable, nice job here.

On draught at HopCat, into a weizen glass.
Copper brown in colour, with an offwhite head. Some lacing and only a little retention. Nose has some dark malts, grains and a light caramel sweetness. Perhaps only a bit of banana. Flavour has wheat, sweet dark malts notes, caramel and a bit of banana and bread. Medium body and medium high carbonation. Decent flavour but not something that stands out to me.

A. Deep copper, but fairly see-through. Lots of little bubbles throughout. Very mild tan head and lace. Dissipates quickly.
S. Very strong malt scent. Some nut. And kind of a cotton candy scent.
T. It has a nutty taste to it. Quite malty. An undertone of dark fruit flavor. It has a sweet watermelon aftertaste. It has a mild bread toast kind of taste.
M. Very smooth, but with a tingle of carbonation. Refreshing.
O. Flavorful and smooth, a bit too sweet but that is just knitpicking.

I bought a single bottle of this as part of a M&M 6-pack at Everett's in South Beloit, IL.
Pours a medium brown color with slight bubbles of carbonation rising to the top, however there is not much of a head to this beer. Has an overall nutty scent with some scent of wheats. The first taste that hits you is the nutty flavor mixed with biscuit. It's a smooth, refreshing, bold taste that finishes clean and dry. Decent brew but leaves a chalky after taste that I don't care for too much.
