Pours an extremely dark mahogany brown with ruby hues and a frothy tan head that leaves a constant creamy layer atop the beer.

The caramel malts are generous just as advertised but there is also an odd sweetness present that is somewhere between brown sugar and bubble gum.

The flavor contains similar caramel malt to the aroma, it also seems a touch yeasty, and again has the underlying sweetness and could possibly be nutty too, but it is tough to differentiate much.

The mouthfeel is a bit light for a doppelbock and also a bit over carbonated versus some of the other examples.

Not one of the finer examples of the style, lacking in some of the traditional flavor and aroma traits that its peers possess.

Deep brown, thin head but, good lace.
Aroma of raisins, dates and caramel.
Taste was sweet, malty, rich dates and caramel - it followed the nose.
Feel was medium carbonation, full body and well masked alcohol.

Aroma is bread, roast and hops. Taste is surprisingly bitter for a doppelbock, with hints of caramel and cereal. Finish is hoppy, not what I was expecting from a doppelbock.

Not a big lager fan, so my rating isn't entirely fair. But, if I really needed to drink a lager style this would be a good choice. Picked this up in the bargain bin at my local six. Probably not the freshest, but a decent offering for this style.....I think.
