Pours dark dark brownish red with adequate amount of light brown head and light lacing. Smells of campfire and sweetness. Tastes like smoked carmalized bacon with hints of dark chocolate lol. Very easy to drink. Not heavy no bite, nice and smooth. Need to find more of this.
Cheers

Came in a standard pint a deep dark walnut brown with a thinner light beige head atop.Caramel.brown,sugar,and roast to go along with subtle smoke in the nose.A good mix of smoke and sweetness on the palate, neither wins out.Probably the best Atwater beer I have had.....I think.

Found a single for $3.50 it caught my eye since I haven't had a good smoke beer in a while.
A - Some ruby hues at the base but mostly a very dark black with a 1/4 inch of mocha head that fizzes out slowly. Good lacing.
S - A very meaty level of smoke with a good amount of sweet malts and roasts. It doesn't smell sour which is also good.
T - Smokey and sweet with a good wood smoke taste, cocoa nibs and roasts equally balanced and a bready pumpernickel goodness.
M - Very creamy and balanced with a smooth finish.
Overall I am impressed this is a sweet and meaty like smoke I like in my porters. May have to go snag a sixer or a case!

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 1/2015. Pours crystal clear nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big wood smoke, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, herbal, light char, and roast/smokey earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and smoke notes; with good strength. Taste of big wood smoke, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, herbal, light char, and roast/smokey earthiness. Fair amount of roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of wood smoke, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light char, and roast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt and smoke flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/bready, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice smoked porter style. All around great robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/roasted malt and smoke flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
