Pours a cloudy dark amber with an almost ruby red cast. Decent tan head recedes to a rocky cap. Tiny bubbles rise in thin streams. Appealing aroma: grapefruit and cherries, pine and biscuit. Piney taste, some grapefruit, followed by bark. Another sip is even more bitter. Thinking this has a good dose of Ahtanum hops. Bottle says 6 hops and 3 malts. The 7.5% ABV hides well. A good to very good American IPA. "Have you hugged your hops today?" I think I just did.

Picked up as single at Lukas in the pick your sixer section. Beer and brewery I am fairly certain I haven't tried. The beer is poured to a pint glass from undated brown bottle and pours a clear amber gold color with a 1 finger white head, some retention, solid lacing. The aroma is very muted, which is unfortunate as it seems good, just weak. A base of biscuity caramel malt from which a citrus hop character rises. I would love a bit more character. The flavor builds on the weaker nose and presents a pleasant blend of the caramel, biscuit, and citrus fond in the nose. Medium bitterness with a more pronounced pine and citrus hop character. Finishes with a mild lingering bitter together with a pleasant sweet citrus flavor on the tongue. Taste is good. Mouthfeel is fairly dry. Good carbonation. Overall, not a bad brew, not one I would seek out but not one I would turn away.

A solid beer from the southern mountains of Colorado. This beer seems to me to straddle the line between Pale ale and IPA.
Pours really nice. Golden copper color with fine looking white head; semi rocky, good lacing.
Underneath a steady hop aroma is light caramel, mostly biscuit, malt. the hops dominate without being over done. This reminds me a bit of Dale's as far as hop clarity goes.
The flavors aren't light, but aren't like some muscle IPAs, or even Odell's IPA. Definitely more hops than malt. Citrus and floral. Green pine. Some tropical.
the bitterness is subtle. Semi dry, but not sweet. I think this is a good IPA, before IPAs became so common and hop heavy. Not as balanced as some of the top tiers, but a good 6pack for the fridge

12oz bottle. Pours a light golden amber with a thin white head that quickly goes to a thin film.
The aroma is extremely subdued - some sweet corny malts.
The flavor is sweet vegetal malts and a little minty leather with a big metallic ashy bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and watery.
Overall, not a good IPA. It has decent bitterness but is a mess.

Bottle from Total Beverage Westminster poured a clear orange amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of biscuit, grassiness, earthiness, citrus and light pine. Mouthfeel was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, earthiess, grassiness and light citrus with a smooth dry bitter lingering earthy finish.

Durango Brewery Hop Hugger IPA: This beer has a deep copper color with a faint haze to the body. The white head is ample, but does fade away. The aroma is faint for an IPA, more to come on this. The flavor starts out fine, with balances malt sweetness, but the finish lacks the hop notes I expect from an IPA. There is a bit of hop there, but it is subtle and ends with a bit of bitter. The Hop Hugger is an OK beer. It is smooth and easy drinking. But as an IPA it is average or a bit below that mark, depending on your tastes.

Picked this one up in Durango, CO at Liquor World (the whole thing?!?). It pours a deep amber color. Darker than I would expect for an IPA. It leaves a nice, white head that laces the glass pretty well. Smells very malty. Mild citrus aromas. The taste is very bitter. Not a fan of this approach to IPA's. Overly bitter. Citrus, pine. I wonder if they use Fuggle hop in here? It reminds me of shipyard IPA. Well, it was worth a shot. Good mouthfeel, and adequate carbonation. So many good IPA's in CO, this is just not one of the better ones in my opinion.
