Poured on tap at Churchkey into a snifter glass, 10oz pour. Listed as a "Belgian Stout". From notes.
A foamy light mocha top is presented, lots of thin head bubbles present. Body color has a real interesting dark reddish brown body. While drinking the beer provides lots of foamy lacing.
Nose has a mild nut sense and roast. Dry tannic nut seems to dominate, but there is nothing that seems obvious or prevalent to dominate. It's a little closed for a boquet.
Palate hints with a real interesting angle. Sweet English mild sense with roasted pan gravy dripping grains. Light bodied like a mild, but hints with some interesting depth coming off the sweetness. Cola sweetness lingers after some sips, with a nice light grainy pleasurable sense to this.
Overall this is a pretty interesting creation, supper session-able at 2% and one good way to get your light roasty fix going on.

On-tap at Beer Revolution. Served in a chalice.
A - Generous tan foam settles to a thick collar, a few wispy patches, and a few specks of lace. Very dark brown body.
S - Earthy and roasted grains, coffee grounds, with a bit of smoke as well. Very dry and attenuated.
T - Again, tons of earthy and roasted grains, with some mild Belgian yeast character peeking through imparting a subtle fruity and phenolic flavor. Charry and mildly burnt finish. Lots of flavor for only 2%.
M - Medium-light body with lower carbonation. A tad watery, but not unexpected considering it's a (very) small beer. It's really easy to slam down, even with the moderately charry flavor profile.
D - Not a great beer, but there's lots of complexity for the ABV. Nice to see a small beer with this sort of flavor profile, but something I'd only want on rare occasions rather than all night (particularly at import prices).

267th Review
Served in a Struise cervoise
I've enjoyed this a few times, but this review comes from a visit to the Struise shop in Brugge while touring around Belgium in early June 2012.
A: Deep brown - almost black. Single (light mocha) fingernail head.
S: Smells of chocolate, dark roasted malt, and graham crackers. Very roasty smelling with a touch of coffee bean. Nice for the by-product of freezing a beer!
T: Fire roasted graham cracker with a mix of coffee, bitter chocolate, and slight nuttiness. Roastiness is very bold here and quite enjoyable!
M: Medium bodied with appropriate carbonation. Very thin though.
O: Small ABV, but this beer is delightful and refreshing! Session-esque and very lovely.

Draft at The Farmers' Cabinet in Philadelphia, PA.
Pours pitch black with a two finger beige head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Sweet, slightly roasted malt aroma with hints of cocoa, coffee bean, toffee and caramel. Kind of bland until it warms up and the roasted notes come out. Subtle earthy hops.
Medium bodied but on the fuller end with slightly acrid bitterness that lingers over the roasted and sweet malt notes into a slightly dry finish. Hints of caramel, cocoa and toffee with a bit of hazelnut and deeply roasted coffee. Dry hop presence counters, leading into a dry finish. Decent but kind of bland and less flavorful than other entries in the series.

On-tap at Beachwood Brewing
Pours a cloudy straw color with a white head. Nice lactic sourness with a hint of peach along with lots of lemon and lactic sourness. Decently woody with a nice grassy funk and a slight mustiness. The flavor is quite tart and lactic. A bit of grass to go along with lemon, green apple skin, and straw. Tannic oak provides some dryness and just a bit of funk. Quite nice.

Review taken from notes courtesy of Stout Fest at the Armsby Abbey.
A - Possibly the best feature of this beer, the pour, was a nice oily black with a one finger mocha head that faded to leave nice sticky side lacing.
S - Light roasted malts and chocolate. Considering the ABV I was expecting it to be faint but this is pretty ridiculous.
T - Why are there dark fruits in my stout? Theres light chocolate, no coffee qualities, some faint roasted malts. Meh
M - I suppose this is to be expected but the beer, its thin and well, fruit roll up fruity. argh.
O - Overall this was possibly the biggest disappointment of the night. Wish I'd had a chance to try Damnation II instead.
