Pours about as dark and dirty as a quad can be without being a stout in quad name alone. A lot of yeast gives this is a nice thick cloudy and near black appearance. A nice bit of carbonation to start but poured into a chalice and I don't see any lacing or retention from the head.
Molasses, clove, dark fruits, and a bit of acidity that seems a bit high for this style.
A very acidic quad giving off dark fruits, molasses, brown sugars, and some grapes (no raisins nor a wine like flavor).
The body is a bit thin and not very creamy.
I'm not sure I get the hype on this one but it's a nice enough beer. It's pricey and I'm not seeing myself buying again unless I stumble upon a really vintage bottle. This being a 2011 served in 2013.

Pours black with a fading tan head.
Nose shows chocolate, spiced figs, prunes, caramel, burnt brown sugar, candi sugar. Lovely.
More burnt sugar as a flavours along with some roasted malt, bready malt and spices.
Could use a more syrupy body and creamier carbonation.
