Very good selection on everyday beer and seasonals. The place can be a bit hectic on the weekends but during the week it's nice a quiet. The staff is very knowledgeable on which beers go with what food, how they all taste and whats in at the moment. I have had really great service in the beer and wine department every time I go.

I have always enjoyed going to Central Market in Fort Worth, grabbing some beers and just relaxing. This place isn't like the one I am use to. It is like a maze and smaller. It is crowded and doesnt have near the seating, which makes it not as fuck to drink a beer. Like any other Central Market, they have a nice beer selection and sell a lot of great food to eat. I have only been here a few times and maybe I just ran into some bad luck, but this feels a lot more like a grocery store to me than the others.

Big news for people who have been buying their beer at the Southlake Central Market. In the past election, voters changed some of the laws governing the selling of beers in this area. Now the Southlake Central Market is expanding is collection quickly and is supposed to make the Fort Worth Central Market look tiny once it is complete. According to the Central Market website, they have over 120 beers now.
I have been visiting this establishment for almost two years now and it is moving in the right direction. I think that this place has pretty reasonably priced beer with a very good and knowledgable staff.
I would highly recommend that people who are serious about beer start taking a look at this place again.

Central Market usually rocks. This one doesn't. Go to a different CM - this one's a joke.
Wow. I was shocked. This is the brand-spankin' new Central Market in ritzy Southlake. Their selection is horrible! Worse than the Exxon gas station on the corner. Really. I'm serious.
This poor, half-a-Central-Market of a store didn't even carry such standards as Duvel or Chimay. The only IPA I could find was Widmer Broken Halo. I asked a gentleman who worked in the department a few questions about beer and whether they'd be getting more in. He didn't have any answers. Prices were decent, as it's a grocery store.

Upon going to other Central Markets in other areas, I was severly dissapointed in this one. Being as upscale as southlake is, the beer selection stunk. And what they did have seemed over priced. I expected more walking in the door, the beer cooler didn't even take up a whole wall. I was forced to drive closer to my house to find what I was looking for. Fortunatly for me, There's plenty of places to pick up beer along the way. So I won't be going back here anytime soon. But I know other central market locations that do carry a better selection and I will definatly use them in the future.

Disappointing is the word that comes to mind when thinking about my recent visit to the new Central Market in Southlake. That's not really CM's fault though. Thank the City of Southlake for a law that limits beers sold in the city to be under 5% ABV. That effectively castrates CM's beer selection. It's particularly ridiculous when looking at rack after rack of 15%+ ABV wines directly across from puny beer aisle.
That being said, it's not like everything under 5% is completly undrinkable. They will of course have the best selection of session beers in the city. I saw a few names on the shelf that looked interesting. When I get bored with World Market (Grapevine, just up the street) and the local supermarket selections, I might hit up CM.
There was already talk in the store of a push to get that law repealed. Central Market is a sort of crown jewel of the whole Town Center area, their arrival has been talked about and much anticipated for months now, so I imagine they might have some pull with the city council. There may still be hope for this location.

Like any other Central Market, this store is located in an affluent city, and is filled with food and items not normally found in your national or regional supermarket chains. The store is large with aisles that make almost a maze. It's a very nice looking store.
For the beer, the section is a lot smaller than other Central Markets. Southlake has a law that doesn't allow beer with an alcohol content higher than 5%ABV to be sold. This rules out a lot of your more exotic imports and pushing-the-edge domistics.
The section has the same format, with refrigerated shelves partitioned by the region that it was brewed (for example: Germany, Belgium, Domestic, Texas). They have wide variety of styles, just not a wide variety selection within those styles. The store is still good though if you live close to the store and you want a beer other than the mass produced beers that are common at the supermarket chains.
You'll still get the same service with knowledgable people, but there just isn't that much to ask about. Most of their work will be done with the wine.
Overall, it's a very nice store with with plenty of other things to shop for. But if you want a rare beer or one that has a higher %ABV, then unfortunately you will have to look elsewhere. Personally, I probably won't be going back unless I'm in the area and I'm not looking for anything special.
