I'd been told about Three Cellars, but didn't want to expect too much on my first visit. Their hours during the week are a bit strange, opening at 3 Monday-Thursday, but that's about the oddest thing about this place. The owner was great to talk with. The stock is amazing, but somewhat limited compared to other stores in the area. The prices, too, were a bit higher than other places, but not too overpriced. I guess I wished it would be larger and have more of a selection, but they are limited on space and make use of what they have quite well. When I was there, they had Left Hand Fade to Black on tap! I'll keep going back to check their selection and add to my cellar for sure!

I just went to Three Cellars in Franklin last night for a Lakfront event. Pumpkin Lager and Oktoberfest release with the owner and I must admit, my first experience there was great!
It's such a shame that it's 40 minutes away from me and no where near being "on the way" to anything otherwise I'd find myself the much more than my wallet would appreciate. [Edit: Speaking of wallet, I've noticed a few things there are a bit pricier that other places. While most things are reasonable to low in price, a few things made me reconsider the $$$ rating.]
Right when you walk in there is a very welcoming atmosphere of lower-level lighting and soft, natural wood. Along the right side of the slender store are bottles and bottles of singles and to the left are wine bottles. Smack in the middle are navigable islands with 6-pack carrying cases for the singles and full 6-packs.
A fake fireplace roars with a muted flat-panel TV above it with a few couches surrounding the cozy area in the middle of the store. Towards the back is a long bar with plenty of space to store cold beer.
Shawn the owner was there and was a great guy to talk to. Very knowledgeable about beer.
Some of the best things about this store he made me aware of. No fluorescent lighting. No direct sunlight in. Everything is fresh. And since its also a tasting bar, you can buy a beer and have them chill it there and drink it in the lounge.
Very cool place over all. While I've seen bigger selections, the selection here was fantastic for the place. Total focus on craft beer. None of the BMCs anywhere to be found. As for quality, I haven't had any of my beers from there yet, but I don't think I'll wind up disappointed.
Thanks for a great place Shawn. I hope I can make it out more!

Stopped by on the way up to Milwaukee from Chicago. Glad I did, as this place was really great. The place itself is medium-size with a tv in the middle and some couches, a bar at the other end. I stopped in only to buy food so I cannot speak for the food, but I can speak for every other aspect. There were quite a few beers here that I cannot get in Chicago, such as New Glarus and some other local brews. Talking with the owner, he is really into carrying local brews which I thought was really cool, and seems to know a lot about what he carries. There were some other brews from imported brands that I hadn't seen in Chicago. Prices were reasonable as well, overall very glad I went and will make return trips in the future.

I've been a regular Three Cellars visitor for about five years. The old store was very good, but the new store is even better. There are always 400-500 different beers in stock, mostly domestic. The owner also tries to introduce new beers to the area before others get them -- he was first with Central Waters, Furthermore, O'so, and Lake Louie beers. Now he often offers taps of Iowa's incredible Toppling Goliath, taps of Madison's delicious Vintage, as well as Black Husky beers on tap and in bottles!
Although the build-your-own-six-pack section may appear smaller than in the previous store, looks are deceiving. They still have one of the biggest selections of beers that I've seen in the area. You can grab individual bottles or six-packs from the shelves, and many of the most popular beers are available in the cooler.
The owner also schedules many special events each month. There are free tastings every Saturday afternoon from 1-4, and sometimes there are others planned during the week. There are also occasional brewery nights and tap takeovers.
The new location also allows many more great features. There is a nice smoke-free patio on the side of the building. At the back of the store is the "Cellar Lounge" where you can savor a session beer or a big beer on tap... or you can quickly chill down any of the beers in the store for a very modest corking fee. On most days, happy hour prices on the taps are also offered.
So to sum up: Three Cellars has a huge and fresh selection, knowledgable and helpful staff, good prices, comfortable atmosphere -- are you still reading this? Get to Three Cellars!

What can I say about Three Cellars that hasn't already been said? They offer a great selection, the staff is very knowledgeable and the atmosphere is outstanding. They offer tasting basically every weekend and pairing classes. This isn't the closest to where I live but I don't mind driving the extra couple of miles for the selection and service. I am also pretty excited about the Sam Adams Brewmaster Collection tasting coming up. I think that right there tells how highly regarded this place is.

Visited Three Cellars in July of 2009 while in town visiting family. Excellent establishment with a great selection of beer. Picked up about 10 x 750 mL bottles to bring back to NJ including some Three Floyds, New Glarus, Two Brother's and Moylans...among others. Thought prices were a little high compared to some other liquor stores I visited, but the selection was great.
I was there on a Saturday during one of their free sampling sessions so wasn't able to get great service on the floor. When I approached the bar area to pay, however, the owners were very willing to discuss beer, answer questions, etc. Would presume service to be amazing during regular store hours.
Store lay out is great. Most singles are not chilled, but they do have the ability to chill beers within 3-5 minutes for on-site consumption...small cork fee would apply.
Highly recommend this place to anyone in the Milwaukee area...well worth the trip, and only a short distance from the airport.

I was staying at a hotel in Franklin for a wedding and wanted to buy some beer to bring back with me. After calling a couple of places and getting having the following conversation multiple times:
"Do you carry Three Floyds?"
I noticed this place here and got the answer I wanted. Finally a place that not only knew the brewery but carried their beer as well! The guy restocking the shelves (I believe the manager) was very helpful and was able to answer all questions I had. Was shocked to see they even had Dogfish at similar prices to NJ. I would certainly come back again if I ever had a reason to be in the area.

I just spent over an hour in the cellar lounge drinking beer and chatting up the owner Shawn. This place is top notch. They carry everything I would ever want and its all in singles so you can make the ultimate sixer. The cellar lounge always has two taps to choose from. I had Moylans Kilt lifter and O'so big O. Shawn was super cool to talk with. He had great knowledge of all his beers and the beer community as a whole. The place is like a Starbucks that serves beer.( I stole that line) Comfy and warm with nice woooden racks for all the beer. Large chairs and couches to relax and sample any beer off the shelf if you choose. (They can chill any beer in 3 minutes)Shawn holds beer tasting/educational seminars every week. Plus brewery nights that focus on one specific brewery with actual reps from the brewery. Hands down the best beer buying experiance I've ever had. I will be back soon. (I signed up for a beer class) LOL

I am from Illinois, and was looking for a decent place in WI to stop on the way to a Brewers game. Three Cellars was about 20 minutes from the park. I brought 3 large coolers and could barely buy little enough to keep all the beer in these. Everything I bought was something I could not get at home, or had to buy as full sixes. The selection is outstanding, with everything being available as a single if you prefer. They also had 4 beers available for tasting, and 2 on tap!
The atmosphere and layout are very nice, and the staff was both knowledgeable and friendly. I really can't recommend this place enough.

So I made it to the new location finally, and chatted with Shawn the beer guy. They were hosting a beer tasting, but he took time out to explain the beer selection and field questions. Awesome service. Every saturday afternoon they hold a beer tasting apparently. Singles selection was top notch, though a bit smaller than Woodmans in Oak Creek, and less deep than Discount in Milwaukee. It's a cool place, just not an "end all, be all" selection. They had a bar in the back with 2 taps, currently pouring Sprecher EPA, not available outside the brewery. The next brewery event is with O'So, and they are bringing 2 exclusive kegs to put on for the event. There was a cozy lounge area toward the back of the store, it felt like hanging out at a friend's house almost, instead of your typical bar. Unique place, definitely check it out if traveling in the area...

Spacious, clean, well laid out store. Beer shelves had a ton of singles, the main draw of the place. There were a couple empty spots, with signs saying "something good coming soon, watch this space" suggesting an expansion of their selection in the near future. My purchases focused mainly on WI stuff, though there were many import singles available as well. A few that I picked up: Ale Asylum, LL, South Shore, Central Waters, Tyranena, New Glarus, Esser's, Lakefront, etc. The 4.5 selection score is based on the fact that just about everything is available in singles. They may not have the magnitude of Discount, but the selection is still great.
Service was helpful, the first 6-pack I loaded up was held at the counter while I browsed further. There was a small bar off to the side, perfect for hosting beer tastings. There was sunlight coming in the large front windows, but they were frosted halfway up. Haven't had any skunked brew yet. Everything has been tasty thus far.
A convenient stop off 94 if you're not planning to spend time in Milwaukee.
