Traditionally known as Old World Ale, Stegmaier Winter Warmer boasts a brilliant, reddish-orange color and a full chewy body. It presents a robust malty, sweet and fruity aroma that attempts the senses. In using a blend of well-modified pale malts, along with judicious amounts of caramel and specialty character malts, Stegmaier Winter Warmer possesses a high malt character with luscious complexity and alcohol warmth, balanced with the traditional hop bitterness. Enjoy this flavorful offering in the company of your closest friends on a frosty winter night.

I like this, a lot. It’s malty and a little bit chewy, with lots of complexity. There is a nice balance of malt and hops, of yeastiness and body. It’s a good companion for a holiday feast.

A: The beer is clear red in color (dark mahogany red when viewed from afar) and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short off white head that quickly settled down, leaving a small patch of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of brown sugar and toffee are present in the nose along with some notes of fruit cake and spicy hops.
T: The taste starts off with flavors of candi sugar and toffee but finishes with notes of dark fruits and fruit cake with hints of spicy hops. There is a bit of bitterness, which masks any sweetness from the malt body.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied and somewhat smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer doesn't have any warming in the mouthfeel, but has a rather malty body that isn't too difficult to drink.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark ruby amber with a medium creamy light tan head that retains well and laces the glass some.
The aroma is perfumey bready malt with some sweet dark fruit and a little alcohol.
The flavor is sweet bready caramel malt with some fruitcake and a bit of a roast alcohol finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, an OK winter warmer.

Nice red copper color. Very little head.
Smells of caramel and toffee.
Taste is strongly caramel with some dark fruits thrown in
Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated and not too thick. Lingering bitter after taste that is a bit burnt tasting which detracts from the beer a bit.
Overall a good beer for warming, thanks to the higher alcohol content.

Deep red-colored ale capped by quick fading beige tall head of foam. Prominent toffee and caramel notes with fruity fig and brown sugar caramel fire. Fruity impressions of fig, cherry, raisin and buttery toffee with spice and foral notes. Hints of woodiness and warm rich sweet malt. Could use a drop more carbonation and complex hop.

This beer pours a deep amber marroon color with a one finger, creamy off white/light tan head. Retention is minimal and there are some thin patches of lacing left on the glass.
Smell is burnt brown sugar, molasses, caramel, dark fruits and a hint of spices.
Taste is the same. Decent flavor, but a bit muddled and quite sweet.
Feel is medium bodied, smooth and sticky with moderate carbonation. No trace of alcohol.
Overall this beer is ok. It is too sweet for me personally and the spices are very subtle.

This beer poured a deep amber color with a thin beige head.
The aroma has a strong scent of brown sugar and a hint of alcohol.
The initial taste is sweet with some spice. In the middle there is a mild raisiny taste. The beer finishes with some of the brown sugar that is present in the aroma.
The mouthfeel is thin with a high level of carbonation.
This was not high on my list of winter warmers. It just lacks the full bodied flavor and the complexity that you would expect from a winter warmer. This beer was ok, but I would not purchase it again.
