This was more of my recent score of CANs at Pinocchio's in Media on Friday. Once more, I have the privilege of being the first to review a beer from a CAN. Viva The CANQuest (TM)!
From the CAN: "Brewed in the honorable tradition of Charles Stegmaier".
The Crack led to an inverted Glug, but I lost track of the fact that it was a Pint-sized CAN and I was faced with a lot of liquid rushing into my glass until I backed off. I had a massive two-plus fingers of tawny head that I allowed to settle before CANtinuing. The lacing that remained was beautifully sticky. Color was a solid amber with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled of grapefruit-citrus hops and even a faint maltiness. My mouth was watering from the outset. Mouthfeel was medium and the hops were there, but they seemed muted, especially given their intensity on the nose. Finish was quite dry, almost astringent and there was a grainy quality as though it were saturated with lupulin. It was curious, given its clarity and the filtration that it probably went through.

Hometown brewery but its an IPA which isn't my fav. type of beer but I wanted to support the local business.
A: Nice golden brown color. Totally transparent with less then a fingers worth of head that dissipates to a very thin veil of lace.
S: Lots of floral hops here as well as a grassy/grainy aroma. Also has a bit of a belgian spice like a wheat beer, reminding me of Hoegaarden or Blue Moon.
T: Taste is rather bland. Getting some bready yeast and very light malt with a decent amount of hops although the bitterness is minimal. Well balanced but lacking the bitterness i've come to know from most IPA's.
M: Decent carbonation works well with the bitterness here. High ABV def leaves a noticeable dry feeling at the end of the palette. Tongue is almost tingling too, kinda weird.
O: Not a very bad brew. More to the center of the malt/bitter-hop balance IPA's are known for. Still has good flavor but i'm not sure its what the doctor ordered for ur HopHead.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a 14 oz "pint" glass. Pours a darker straw color with little head, but some lacing. Smells of hops, but it is very weak. Tastes of hop flavor but a funky aftertaste. A little heavy on the carbonation but goes down easy for this lighter bodied beer. Overall, an average beer.
