Have been looking for a place with an exceptional beer selection, and this wasn't it. This place was pretty much average. I'll give them this, their beer cooler is probably the coldest spot in DFW. I didn't see any beers I couldn't pick up at Market Street or Central Market. Actually they had less. Not a bad place if your looking for more than your corner gas station or local super market sells, but not by much. They did have a Sunner Kolsch that I had not seen before, so picked that up. Rest of the selection was your usual suspects of Stone, Avery, Chimay, etc...

a store of decadence in the north dallas area that is summed up in a walk in cooler of about 100 beers. selection is reasonable. clerk was all on the chimay blue recommendation. big on selling. interesting and somewhat random selection. some hammers. lips of faith series.... but for 17 bucks a pop. some de proef which surprised me. random west coast rarities. but very inconsistent. don't go here for german or english beer. terrible. mr. g's is a start. or central market. basically i had a friend pick up beer for me there once near closing time and they tried to up sell her past the 12 o'clock cut off then kicked her out without any beer. greedy place. not thoughtful about beer period. on a national scale of selection... like swiss cheese. palate mentality to make the dough. go once to get your fill... if you live in dallas go once a season.

I was really excited to hit this place after all the wonderful reviews...but I found it really lacking in selection. They had a few hard to finds, but mostly the selection was pretty bland. The walk in fridge had very few items with prices on them. One of the people that worked there said they didn't price them because they rotated stock so often, but that makes no sense. Just throw a sticker price on your beer. Items were reasonably priced, which was another reason to PRICE YOUR BEER.
I'm not sure what everyone saw in this establishment...maybe they just haven't been to that many places or I'm just too picky. Next time I'm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, I'll skip this place.

I visited this place on my way home from work and was unfortunatley dissapointed. They did have a good selection but not much better than Centennial or Goody Goody liquor. You have to walk into a cold refrigerator to check out the beer selection and most of the beers do not have prices on them. All of the beers they had I have seen at the forementioned liquor stores for a couple bucks cheaper. If you don't have a car and are in walking distance then this is a good place to go but if you have a car just go down the road to Centennial.

I think Lone Star Beverages is definitely a store to watch over if you are in the area. The owner was very passionate about beer and hopes to expand and bring growlers to Dallas in an effort to keep up with the growing Texas beer scene.
I think Lone Star Beverages had the best selection of Texas beer I've seen. That was definitely a big reason I wanted to visit since I'm not in Texas often and the beers here rarely leave the state. And the owner was a very helpful guy (he's also on BA). He sold me a bottle of Pumpkinator, which had been sold out for months. He additionally mentioned he will hold bottles if you ask.
In all, this store is recommended because I think it's the best beer store for providing local beers and the owner was a very generous and helpful guy. In addition, the store might be even bigger and better in the not too distant future.

I was coming to the DFW area on business and posted on here asking for recommendations for a local place to check out a selection of brews. The guys sent an email to me saying I should stop by and see what they had. Nice selection however I could get the majority back home but the service was first rate!!! They had a few limited distro brews in the back that they made available to me as well. Real hospitality here and much appreciated. I would come back again when in town to see if I could throw them some business. Check em out if ur in town!

Stopped by on my way to the Saucer couple Wednesday's back. Selection is above average, and certainly the best I've seen in the immediate area. A bit of a drive for me, but the offer to obtain special requests is certainly something that may make the drive worthwhile in the future. Have to give them one dig, though....asked for the BA discount, which Rick told my checkout guy was 10%...but I got the impression the guy checking me out thought it was all a big joke....since when I checked my receipt in the car, he hadn't applied the discount. Oh well...
UPDATE (6/07) : Stopped back by this past weekend, and found a couple of beers that I haven't seen anywhere else. No problems with the discount this time. Will definately be back.

Just found out about this place a few weeks ago and went to check it out last weekend.
First thing I noticed was the friendly and attentive staff. I met the owner Rick and we talked for a bit about what types of beers I like and what I was looking for. He immediately offered to try and get me anything they were missing. The beer cave is a great idea as it's much colder than most coolers being a walk-in. Very nice selection-holds it's own with most stores in North Dallas. I like that seperate section for the newest stuff-makes things easier to find. One of the few drawbacks I found was prices were no one to be found on most beers but after asking about a few bottles I see a trend that most everything is a dollar or two higher than I'm used to paying (for example, Stone Sublimely was $7.99-I usually pay $5.99/bomber)
They have a nice selection of glasses which are 2 for $6-not a bad price. I picked up a Duvel tulip and some funky Malheur glass. Nice cigar selection as well.
All in all a pretty damn good lil beer store-i'll be back.

Have been to this store a number of times recently, I love the place. They carry craft items that are not sold from other stores in the area. The staff is really knowledge of the products and more than willing to review and make suggestions with customers--they are not just sales people that work in the shop (which is a huge plus to me) they know the products. They also get rare items in and offer them out instead of holding on to them, just picked up a Weasel Rodeo from Jester King today-hope to see this store and customers grow so I don't have to make longer drives for craft items. Thanks LSB.

The previous reviews have covered the basics, so I'll hit some highlights.
Rick went out of his way to tell me to call him with anything I was interested in and he'd try to get it. This is rare. When I've asked for items at other places in town, the clerks would write down my request, but I got the impression that the scrap of paper on which they scribbled it would shortly go in the circular file.
They have limited selection of premium beers, but those they have are the very well chosen, as others have said. The only problem is that they have allocated a limited amount of space to store the good stuff, so I would guess they run out from time to time. Probably better to call first before going out of your way.
UPDATE: Rick tells me that he keeps his back stock in his warehouse in the back. I thought all the stock was in the "beer cave". Sorry for the incorrect info re: running out of stuff.
