It's not big. The selection isn't going to bowl you over. But this is an independent, from-the-ground-up type of place and the owner is right there for you. CM and Majestic have more labels but there are labels available at LSB that aren't in the coolers at those places. And they don't vary much from one another.
I think perhaps it comes down to service. Just try getting this type of attention down at Big Liquor. Sure, their coolers are bigger but half are just stacks and stack of boring macro here in the land of Miller Lite. And at Big Liquor the bored and underpaid cooler attendant isn't going to take your name and number and see if he can get it for you. Rick does because, like us, he loves beer.
Today was my first visit but I'll be back. Seems like he has a base stock for the folks he knows will be coming in and the rest of it rotates as he can get it. Seems like next time I'm there I'll find beers I didn't see this time. Seems like the people in this store really want to be there and like what they're doing. That counts for a lot these days.
With support this store will grow. If not into a bigger store at least into more of them.
Really, the key here, with LSB is that if he doesn't have it he'll see what he can do about getting it and is only too happy to do so. That's really about all one can ask for, isn't it?

This place is great. They have a competitive selection to the Addison/Plano stores. Their prices for "regular" beer are a little high, but that's not what I go there for. If you don't find what you're looking for, ASK. They'll find it.
Go into the Beer Cave. The selection is great. They have a great selection of the Belgiums. They always have "sampler packs" of most craft beers that offer samplers.
Seems to have the best selection of Sam Adams beers in the Carrollton area if your a fan of SA.
They also offer singles that they usually rotate.
And apparently if you mention BA, you'll get a 10% discount. Great Guys.

Stopped by this place on my lunch hour to pick up some beer for the weekend. I have to say I was definatly impressed and will be going back agian. The selection was amazing. There were beers available that I have never even heard of, and rick has said he could get just about anything requested. It is a little farther to drive than i would like, but for that selection, I would drive to just about anywhwere in the dallas area. I have definatly found my favorite beer store. I can't wait to empty my fridge so I can go back.

The previous reviews have covered the basics, so I'll hit some highlights.
Rick went out of his way to tell me to call him with anything I was interested in and he'd try to get it. This is rare. When I've asked for items at other places in town, the clerks would write down my request, but I got the impression that the scrap of paper on which they scribbled it would shortly go in the circular file.
They have limited selection of premium beers, but those they have are the very well chosen, as others have said. The only problem is that they have allocated a limited amount of space to store the good stuff, so I would guess they run out from time to time. Probably better to call first before going out of your way.
UPDATE: Rick tells me that he keeps his back stock in his warehouse in the back. I thought all the stock was in the "beer cave". Sorry for the incorrect info re: running out of stuff.

Stopped by on my way to the Saucer couple Wednesday's back. Selection is above average, and certainly the best I've seen in the immediate area. A bit of a drive for me, but the offer to obtain special requests is certainly something that may make the drive worthwhile in the future. Have to give them one dig, though....asked for the BA discount, which Rick told my checkout guy was 10%...but I got the impression the guy checking me out thought it was all a big joke....since when I checked my receipt in the car, he hadn't applied the discount. Oh well...
UPDATE (6/07) : Stopped back by this past weekend, and found a couple of beers that I haven't seen anywhere else. No problems with the discount this time. Will definately be back.

Made the trip from Addison and picked up two of the Shelton Bros holiday packs and a Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout bomber. Sam was extremely nice and helpful and told me that if I had any requests, Rick could help me out with requested sixers or even specialty kegs!. That is rare now adays. I agree with skillerified, Sam seemed to have an actual interest in what you are looking for, instead of just worrying about the sale.
Rick is the man at Lone Star. If you don't see it and Texas distributes it, he will go out of his way to get it for you. He has hooked me up a time or two on some hard to get brews. Rick is usually the first in the DFW area to get new brews, due to his close releationship with the distributors. I would absolutely buy from Lone Star again and I would recommend this store to everyone.

Made the drive from Grapevine on a long lunch break and the trip was well worth it. Got a great deal on some Great Divide brews (which seems to be sort of making a name for this place), but the overall experience was very pleasurable. Met the owner, he's a really nice guy, seems very commited to bringing good beer to the area. In discussing a few special requests, I actually felt like he was personally interested, rather than just taking an order. That's a rare thing in industry. The selection wasn't overwelmingly large, but, as some other reviewers have noted, well chosen. There was plenty of good choices as opposed to some larger supermarket types who have lots of choices, but only a few good ones.
I could easily see myself making this trip again. We need more places like this in the metroplex.

Great new beer and wine store in Carrollton at corner of Josey and Frankford right next to the CVS. They have only been open a couple months but they are rapidly adding new micros and crafts each week as the demand picks. The owners Rick and Sam are willing to order any beer they can get if they don't have it in stock already. The main coolers are for the macros and the usual micros. The Beer Cave is for the good stuff (and some macro overflow). They started out with one rack full of good stuff and have added 3 more in the past month or so. Carrollton was dry until a few years ago so they are the best store in the area. The service is excellent and they are currently offering a 10% discount if you mention BA. Even without the discount, they usually have better prices than most. Highly recommend and also advise that you keep checking back as they add. Also, don't be afraid to request something. They'll usually get it in a few days for you.
