Pitch black; no light passes.

Dark khaki head; decent.

Bold nose; dark chocolate with hints of coffee.

Thick mouthfeel.

The coffee is more pronounced in the flavor, but this is still a dark chocolate bomb. Hint of hops and booze on the back end.

Slight burnt coffee flavor which I find appealing.

Was lucky enough to stop into the taproom when they were selling a few of their old bottles to drink on the premises. It's probably circa 2012/13 (barkeep wasn't certain).
Pours an deep, opaque brownish-black with a very thin tan head that quickly dissipates.
The aroma is deep and complex. Lots of dark chcolate, roast coffee and hints of leather and dark fruit.
Really tasty! Lots of dark chocolate right up front , some dark-roast coffee and a bit of raisin and prune. A lingering, bitter chocolate taste stays on the tongue until the next sip. Only the slightest hint of alcohol warmth.
Mouthfeel is sensuous, creamy and even a touch oily.
Age has treated this beer very well! Simply outstanding.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a wine glass. No bottle date, but I bought it in spring of '14, so it's probably at the 18 month mark.

A- Thick and dark brown, with only a little light brown head. Caramel brown in the meniscus.

S- enticing aromas of coffee, chocolate, a bit of oxidation, and just a hint of umami.

T- Rich port and oxidized plum meld with the chocolate and coffee flavors. This is what aged stout should be.

F- Thick, but not syrupy yet. Just a faint prickle of carbonation for balance. Not astringent, not dry.

O- held up very well to age. With the umami on the nose and the rise of oxidative flavors and aromas, I'm not sure if I'd age it much longer.

A: Black with a steady, thick brown head; good lacing

S: Dark semi-sweet chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, and lots of dark fruits and molasses; something seems a bit off and astringent in the finish

T: Dry up front: lots of semi-sweet chocolate and roasted malts--really roasted; dark fruits linger in the finish; this comes together quite well with nothing strange in the finish

F: Medium body and creamy but not nearly thick enough

O: A really pleasant RIS and so easy-to-drink with no over-the-top alcohol presence
