A- Pours a dark brown with an off white two inch head

S- Subtle vanilla, coffee, chocolate and some roasted malt notes

T- More of the same with some coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, and vanilla

M- Slightly thin and watery mouthfeel with some creaminess. Thin to medium body

O- Not a bad brew and pretty average, but disappointing after trying their Moo Joos, which was much better IMO.

I just picked some of this up so maybe it has come out of retirement because I don't think that it is old stock

Poured from 12oz bottle into pint glass

A-dark brown with a little ruby on the edges with about a 2 finger head that fades quickly

S-not big on smell but what there is has some carmel malt

T-much like the smell, some sweet carmel malt with a little roast coffee and cream

M-on the thin and watery side with a lot of fizzy carbonation like a soda

O-not bad and easy to drink but not as good as their moo joos

Brau Brothers Cream Stout is a pure-black colored brew, with a small khaki head which doesn't last too long. The body is completely opaque and does not admit any hues when held to light.

The nose is pretty light, but mainly focuses on dark and roasted malt.

The taste is pretty light as well, chocolate malts, fairly sweet, almost has some soda flavors in it as well. The mouth is light and wet.

One of six varieties in a Brau Brothers Brewing 12-pack sampler.

Poured from a 12 oz. brown long neck bottle into a Guinness pint glass.

Appearance: Dark opaque brown, almost black. Brown one finger foamy head that faded quick and left a frothy tan cap.

Smell: Sweet malts, bread, a little chocolate. Subtle, but nice aroma.

Taste: Sweet and creamy up front. Flavors of cappuccino, bittersweet chocolate and biscuits. Definitely a high roasted malt profile, which would be expected of a stout...the sweetness cuts the malt just a little. Little to no hops detected. A satisfying, if subtle, stout.

Mouth feel: Medium-bodied and creamy. Good medium carbonation that fits the style well.

Drinkability: Good drinkability. I'd love to try it on tap or from a cask sometime, if they have it available. Overall it's a decent creamy and slightly sweet stout.

$1.49 for a 12 oz bottle

A: deep black, opaque beer, poured a nice tan head that quickly dissipated to a thin layer and ultimately lacing on the side of the glass
S: medium nose, not overly sweet but roasted malt
T: thin taste, roasted malt, watery
M: thin roasted malt but for 5% not bad, more like a session beer in mouthfeel, somewhat watery, very little finish
O: no offensive tastes but just lacks character and body

Inky black with a slim cap of light tan foam slipping off fast to a thin ring and a few spots of lace.

Aroma is firm and chocolatey with a nice creamy sense to some sweet buttermilk, dashed with a bit of graham cracker, creamed coffee, and vanilla.

Taste is a simple rendering of some dark and sweet chocolate creamed pie, tanged with oatmeal and tannin, a bit of date and raisin slivered in along with a decent tone to some roasted malt and lighter coffee bitterness lingers of the tail end as it finishes. Some tangyness is left over and sticks well into a lasting tone late.

Slender, creamy, smooth tangy mediumish body. Perhaps a tad thin in the mid range but not withstanding any loss of tone in its flavor profile and has a nice building of textures and leftover flavors lingering as it finishes.

A nice surprise. A pretty solid little cream/milk stout.

Appearance: Dark brown-black with a minimal tan head.

Smell: Bordering on a porter.. roasted malts and chocolate. Some sweetness here to remind it's a cream stout.

Taste: Very malty - Mild roasted though and mildly sweet. Just a little bit creamy. Hint of chocolate.

Mouthfeel: Somewhat thin.

Drinkability: Not as sweet as other cream stouts and somewhat porter like, but not necessarily like a 'good' porter. Not really what I was expecting. For me, it's probably more drinkable that a typical cream stout would be, but not something I'd seek out.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
Nearly opaque brown-black with a thin brown head which quickly dissipates to a ring. Leaves a little lacing. Almost looks like it's flat.
Smells like a porter to me. Cocoa and sweet creamy notes, a little bit of roasted malt and char. There's a faint unpleasant tin smell.
Roast and some bitter chocolate on the taste, a touch of smoke on the finish. Some coffee bitterness on the aftertaste as it warms up. Ends pretty dry.
On the light side of medium bodied, kind of flat. I would like some more creaminess or viscosity, and a little more carbonation.
Pretty smooth and easy to drink, if not particularly engaging.
This is a pretty middle of the road beer. Some pleasant enough tastes with some flaws and nothing outstandingly good.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown/black color wtih surprisingly very little head. What head there is collars around the glass in a slight tan color. Slightly smokey, dark roast coffee aroma. Decent coffee aroma. Slightly sweet with a coffee taste. Some bitter roast flavors along with some leather tastes. Medium mouthfeel. Ends with a slight smoky taste. Overall, not bad but nothing that makes me stop in my tracks.

When I poured this brew into my glass I was impressed with how dark and thick it is, like a cross between melted chocolate and molasses. Because of this I expected it to be rich and hearty, I hate to say it isn't as dense as it looks. The body actually seemed a bit watery for the style. The flavor seems under-pronounced with a small amount of toffee and cocoa coming through. It's passable but I won't go out of my way to get this one again.

BEER REVIEW #100!

Poured from bottle into pint glass

A- Very very dark brown, almost black with a nice tan head that left lacing

S- Roastyness and chocolate malt

T- Sweet chocolate malt and expresso

M- Medium bodied and medium carbonated

D- I really liked this, but I'm a stout guy anyway. It is a good offering from the Brau Brothers company.

Purchased at 3 Corners Liquor in Medford, MN. Pours a pitch black body with a thin light khaki head. Aroma of faint roasted malts, raisins and black licorice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, lightly carbonated and slightly watery. Flavors follow the aroma, but nothing very special about this beer. Drinkability is okay, but I won't be reaching for this one again.

From a freshly kegged and nitro-tapped sample at the brewery.

Brownish black color with a beautiful cascading effect that results in a massive puffy light brown head.

Chocolate malt and coffee in the nose.

Lots of rich toasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Flavor is quite rich and tasty.

Here is where the nitro makes this beer shine. Completely smooth and creamy feel from beginning to end.

Good drinkability. Just an all around enjoyable beer on nitro. Nitro is new to this beer and it is working beautifully. I will be looking for this one on tap again.
