The stone carving trade has a long tradition in Zeil and is known for the Zeil sandstone. Even today, the Zeiler Steinhauer are still the inspiration for our Steinhauer Weisse and can be found on the label proudly singing their Steinhauerlied at the Zeiler market square.

Characteristic: full-bodied, sparkling, mild, light fruit notes

Crystal clear, golden body; dense, fine carbonation; thick and dense head, creamy and long lasting. Nice malty nose with a dull banana note. Watery taste; some weak malt and wheat notes. Medium-heavy body; velvety and sticky.

The heart of the beer (the taste) just didn't shine with this one. The thin and papery flavors didn't bring out any of the classic German weisse flavors one would hope to find. The esters and phenols are suggested in the aroma, but the taste is just flat and unexciting.

Aroma is wheat, spices and bananas/bubblegum. The flavor is wheat, citrus and a bubblegum/mildly sweet finish.

Pours an effervescent & slightly hazed gold with tons of cream colored head. Zero head retention or lacing

S: Cloves, green bananas

T: Follows the nose, dryness, breadyness up front. Juicy fruit flavor as this warms, bready sweetness, green bananas. Finishes slightly sweet/dry with green banana

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation

Fairly run of the mill Hefeweizen, okay drinkability

500 ML Swing-top from Crest Foods in Edmond, OK (exp Date 17.03.21)

Appearance:
Cloudy, orange gold, good head retention and lacing.

Aroma:
Banana and bubblegum up front. In fact, the first thing you smell right as the top is popped is a strong and distinct amyl acetate aroma. Slight smell of grainy, bready wheat behind it. not much hops.

Flavor:
Hefeweizen yeast esters dominate as expected, Leans toward the Banana a bit but not too much. On the mild and sweet side for a Hefe

Mouthfeel:
Nominal CO2 and mouthfeel for style and no harsh or off-feels. Feels a bit yeasty and powdery, which is expected but on the high side for style.

Overall:
A mild and tame Hefe. The overall flavor seems a bit lifeless and "cooked". Tastes as though it was pasteurized--do they do that to bottle conditioned beers? To Hefeweizens? Anyway it is a solid citizen, tastes good, but there are more aggressive and complex versions of this style on the market.

16.9oz swingtop bottle. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of banana, clove and cracked wheat. Sweet wheat with banana flavors and a subtle spiciness.

Best Before Date says 27.08.2010. Pouring into tulip results in hazy pale orange fluid with apparently absent carbonation, topped by dense off-white head that gradually collapses untill a thick firm sheet is left over the entire surface. Swirling weaves attractive lacing on the walls. The aroma profile starts with weak banana that progressively grows quite intense; yeasty and bready with some faint clove. The flavor dept is dominated by wheat perceived as bread and yeasty, almost powdery sensation. Evident citric flavor, probably due to abundance of yeast. The nearly medium bodied beer with wheaty texture has the carbonation restrained enough to lie down softly on the palate.
