Found a new (for me) 22oz pumpkin ale to try.
A: hazy orange-brown ale, a vigorous pour into a tulip kicked up a very brief and bubbly head which was gone within a minutes. Looks more syrupy than it tastes.
B: scents you'd expect from a pumkpin ale, but with a sharp spice note that sets it apart - clove, I suppose
T: very nice - The vegetal character of the pumpkin is clearly pronounced. You can taste savory spices in this beer that I didn't find as much in the other pumpkin ales. As I was drinking this, more than any other pumpkin ale, I began to think I may have eaten something made with pumpkin. Maybe that's why they call it the "double pumpkin."
M: despite no head, I am aware of the carbonation; a smooth drink - it has a unique viscosity, almost slick.
O: Naturally, I liked this beer, and recommend you try it. The sweetness of pumpkin pie spice and flavors is secondary to the savory, vegetal aspects of pumpkin - this is a full course ale. Personally, for a pumpkin ale, I tend to prefer something either a little sweeter (like Southern Tier's Pumking), a little more distinguished (like Dogfish Head's Punkin), or a little brighter (like Shipyard's Smashed Pumpkin). But depending on your tastes, this may be precisely your pint of ale. Only one way to find out, eh?

a clean copper/orange with a finger of head which quickly dissipated. smells of cinnamon, ginger, pumpkin pie, bready crust. heavy on the ginger flavor with this one, slightly bitter like an orange peel but not getting the flavor of it. very bready, and sutle sweetness. medium body with moderate amount of carbonation.
this is one of the better pumpkin beers i've had this year, albeit a little late.

Poured into a beer mug.
Appearance- Pours a not quite one-finger (to be fair it was a gentle pour) off white head. The color was that of a light amber/nutty brown with a hint of red.
Smell- Smells nice and sweet, predominant notes of pumpkin followed by ginger and nutmeg. Maybe even a hint of honey and citrus. Very pleasing, made me look forward to tasting this beer all the more.
Taste- Starts off a bit bitter with a malty backdrop. Pumpkin shines through nicely somewhere in the middle followed again by the ginger and nutmeg. It finished a bit more sweet and sort of hoppy; relatively balanced. The beer isn't overwhelmed by the pumpkin or spices, but the flavors tend to complement each other pretty nicely.
Mouthfeel- Fair amount of carbonation; smooth and a bit sticky in the finish.
Overall- A great pumpkin ale; my second beer from Hopping Frog and I was not disappointed.
