A - Pours very dark brown, close to black and almost syrup like. There was a very small head that dissipated within a few seconds.

S - Smells of sweets and coffee, with hints of chocolate and oatmeal.

T - The taste is somewhat like chocolate/cocoa but without the sweetness. Slightly bitter but not overpowering with a coffee consistency.

Notes - Overall this is a good beer but it didn't blow my socks off. I would have another but wouldn't rush to the store to buy one.

A: truly pours like motor oil; got a thin dark brown head; no real lace

S: rich smooth espresso and cocoa - bittersweet dark chocoloate

T: the smoothness of the oats makes this a particularly decadent and chocolatey-tasting take on the RIS - sweet and chewy dark chocolate, black espresso dryness in the background

M: very smotth, very creamy, bittersweet finish, full, dense body

O: I can see why this is a top 250 beer - a rich, treat of a RIS
