it is obvious when someone really loves beer. someone who doesn't horde. or doesn't allow one person to buy out the whole supply of something. when he wants everyone to at least get a taste. this person is fred. the guy is a champ. a nice little bottle shop in santee. with a wide variety of harder to find and good old favorites ranging from alesmith decadence to pure hoppiness from alpine freddy even had a few bottles of gift of the magi from last year. with the amazing customer service i will definitely be making the trip down again.

Owner Fred Hormiz is definitely trying to portray himself as a beer advocate. He takes it a little far though. Selection rivals most other liquor stores I have seen, but the prices are sometimes ridiculous. Watch out for old bottles of the hoppy stuff on the shelves. Too many dusty, hot bottles. Always well stocked with Alpine stuff, but who knows how old it is. Fred is a salesman in the truest sense of the word. A decent store though, with an (overly)enthusiastic owner. Too many other quality shops to go back to Bev 4 Less.

My day started off at 4 am, getting ready to head down to the Alesmith Barrel Aged Speedway release. After getting to SD around 7 am and getting my ticket for my treasure, a fellow beer geek in line suggested my buddies and me visit this gem. So to kill some time, we decided to head down and take a look. When I thought my day couldn't get any better...Fred (the owner) decided to make it even better. We walked in and he immediately started helping us out and asking us questions....and not in a pushy way either. Anyways, the selection was pretty darn good too...I was impressed. Basically, Fred is a super nice guy who loves what he does...which really makes the experience that much better. It would be a shame to not visit this place.

On the recommendation of those here, ventured there today. What a great find. Tremendous selection of hard-to-finds, including some stuff I hadn't seen in awhile (Abyss). Most prices seemed fairly comparable to owner-operated joints.
Driving force behind this place is Fred. Super nice guy, and psyched to be the purveyor to beer geek stars. Though I've yet to test him, I got the impression this guy would run through walls to help his customers get their goodies. Fantastic enthusiasm for the hobby.

Freddie Hormiz is the Beer Geek's friend.
Located in Santee, Beverages 4 Less carries so many great beers. They even have some rare stumpers on occasion, like Abyiss and Sculpin. Freddy goes out of his way to stock the best beers, and takes recommendations with fierce commitment.
Seriously, of all of East County, this is the first place I always go.
Tell him Randy recommended the place when you go.
By the way, he also has a pretty good, small, hard to find collection of wines and he is talking about a top notch humidor soon. It's a pretty impressive joint!
Hey, these guys have a web site and they now ship beer. Its:
I have asked the Bros to update their info.

Where do I start?? The beers...Alpine, Stone, Lost Abbey, Alesmith, Green Flash, Ballast Point, ect...Some of the beers are cold and other are just shelved. I always question warm beer...unless it's very fresh. However, I picked up a few that were warm and all drank well! Fred was a great help and pointed us to everything we needed and then some. We were able to pick a few things that you couldn't find anywhere. They also had a good selection of liquor if that is your thing. It was a little bit out of our way but well worth the trip! Thanks again Fred!!

I went in there originally about 8 months ago and only saw the cooler section of beer which was always great mind you. Just recently i got talking with the manager Fred. He showed me the rest of the beer selection and since has always been warm and extremely helpful whenever i've come back. The best part about this place is that if you want something they don't have you are encouraged to tell them about it and they will try their best to pick it up for you. So far he's picked up everything i've asked for including rare liquors and beer! Thanks Fred.

I found this place on the Alpine website as one of their few distributors. I printed out the directions on mapquest and the next time I was in San Diego I stopped by. It's an unassuming place that you'd definitely not expect to carry any craft beers, but once inside that changed.
Their selection is above average at best, but I gave them a 4.5 simply because of a few rare brews they carried. As mentioned above, they carry all the Alpine stuff, which is impressive in itself. I also found some Stone 8th Anniversary (this was in September of '06) at a relatively bargain price, which needless to say I grabbed as much as I could carry along with a few bombers of Pure Hoppiness. Aside from this they carry all the basic San Diego County breweries (Alesmith, Green Flash, Ballast Point, etc) and a decent selection of imports, though I was there for the Alpine and didn't spend much time browsing anything else I could get much closer to home.
The store is run by an Indian or Middle Eastern family who although they don't look it, they (or at least the gentleman who helped me) seemed to have a good knowledge of craft beer. Very friendly as well.
Next time I feel an urge for Alpine or find myself in East County, I'll definitely make sure this place is a stop. Recommended for anyone in the area.
