So I went down to Lost Abbey to pick up my oldER viscosity bourbon barrel for homebrewing and my buddy told me that I had to stop by here to check out their beer selection. I stopped by on a Friday and Fred had a few beers open for customers to check out.
First off I had emailed the owner, Fred a few times about a certain beer and he was responsive. When I finally met him for the first time he made me feel like a regular customer - we shared a few beers and he directed me toward some beers that I had never had before, but needed to try. One of those was Velvet Glove by Iron Fist, which was totally awesome. It was pretty cool. I ended up hanging out there for a while and met a few other people.
Fred's selection of Alpine was amazing. Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area as the selection was superb and the prices were fair.
Hopefully some day I can get in the cooler to see what treasures are hiding in the back!

Fred is an amazing guy to deal with... i've been to the store and ordered from him and haven't had a single problem. if i had one complaint it would just be the cost of shipping but i understand. Fred is always available with a simple phone call and will work to help with anything... just ask him.

Reviewing based on over-the-phone and e-mail interactions, so my rating for Atmosphere should be taken with a grain of salt.
Living in NYC, it's normally easy to find a great selection of beers from breweries based around the world. West coast beers aside from Stone and Sierra Nevada (leaving out a bunch of others for brevity's sake) are a little harder to come by. Russian River, Alameda, Figueroa Mountain, Alpine, etc are nearly impossible to find here unless you trade or happen to stumble upon a special event at a bar or bottle shop.
In comes Fred from Beverages4Less. I was trolling the web and found his site where it prominently states "we ship beer". I thought perfect, no fuss no muss. Fred takes it a step further though and makes the ordering process simple, comfortable, and downright pleasant. He knows his beer and you can easily spend 20 minutes on the phone just talking about random beer related topics. The store has been around for a while and it's no surprise why - an amazing selection at great prices.
If you are looking for any West Coast - especially Cali - beers, hit up this site or visit the store if you're local.

Freddie is the man, all i have to say. I have been doing business with him for about a year now and i don't have one thing negative to say about this place. i always do online ordering and get my shipment within 4 days. If you ever need ANY beer ask and your wish will come true! I asked him if he could send me 6 plinys and i said i would even pay 10.99 each and he told me... "sorry man, i don't ever overcharge anyone ... even if there okay". but he will do his best to accommodate you without taking away all the amazing beer from everyone else! Overall Great beer, great customer service. Also want to mention, Fred threw in a free zombie dust just because. cheers and try him out sometime!

If you ever find yourself out in San Diego's East County or you want to drive to a great bottle shop go here. You would never guess from the front that this is a great find in Santee. Over half of Bev 4 Less is dedicated to craft beer. Freddie the owner is consistently getting in new and fresh beer on a daily basis. I would highly recommend getting to know him because if you do it will only help build your beer cellar. Pliney is only days old here, plus a great selection of rare and hard to find beers. If your looking for something than just ask. Most likely if he does not have it he will get it for you. Prices are very reasonable. Much better than other shops in San Diego. Also, he ships beers all over the country and world. So if you ever find yourself heading to a buddies place out of state what better way then ship some beer to your future location.

Freddie is the best supplier of IPAs I have found in the country and his service is exceptional. The pricing is good, too. Since I found out about his store I have tried beers I had been wanting to try for years. I can honestly say that I have sampled as many great beers in the last 6 months as I had in the previous 5 years. Thank you to Freddie and Beverages 4 Less!

Fred is just awesome. I have only done mail order but was beyond pleased at how responsive and nice he was. I love the selection of California beers, too. I put my order in on a Sunday and had heard back from him within a couple of hours. I had items (incl. Russian River, AleSmith and Bruery goodies) within a week. Can't say enough good things ...

I'm not sure if I have had a bad experience at this place. I read the reviews about overpriced beer but you have a choice not to buy. I don't find it any worse than any other great beer store. I also read something that said there was year old Pliny the Elder on the shelf. I highly doubt that would or even COULD happen.
What's crazy is that before I knew this place existed I was having beer shipped into San Diego. He has everything that I ever ordered from a good store in Idaho.
I have had a few good conversations with Freddy and yeah he's high strung but it's fun to talk with him about beer.
Overall I really think it's great that this place exists and I'm willing to drive the 15 miles to get great beer that I wouldn't be able to get otherwise. Get on his mailing list, twitter, or facebook page so you see what his new arrivals the day he receives them.

I go out of my way to get to Freddy's shop whenever I'm in San Diego. He usually has just about anything you want. All the So Cal favorites: Ballast Point, Lost Abbey, Port Brewing, AleSmith, Stone, Alpine, Anchor. Not to mention Russian River and The The rest of the beer world is well represented to. Colorado, Midwest, east coast, all in this piece of heaven. Imports, he has them too.
When I can't get there for special releases, he hooks me up with fast easy shipment. AWESOME!!!! Great website keeps you up to date on special releases.

I don't know about MacNcheese. All I know is that I've been on Freddy's newsletter list for over a year and I always open it up looking for something special, and I'm NEVER disappointed.
You really can't beat this shop. Especially if you are from out-of-state and don't have access to the deliciousness within.
YOu ROCK Freddy!!

Freddie remains a world class douchebag. He overcharges for his beer and resells beer illegaly.
Latest was Black Tuesday, retails for $30 brewery only. He was reselling 2 cases at $85/ea to the east coast only. Clear violation of the three-tier laws.
Beer sits warm, probably the stuff he ships east. Only suckers buy from this guy.
He's well known for sending his mules out to make a buck off special releases and starving the market of consumers who the beer is intended for.
You'll note the only positive reviews are coming from out of state people who'll do anything for locals. They don't care if laws are violated.
So i get a BM from scorpionpower:
Title: "you have plenty time in your hand"
Body: "you know what an a*** just f*** up leave Brewery alone and not talk about Alpine "
This guy has 1 post, to a thread about Abyss and where to get it and he posts only the url for beverages-4-less.
One of Freddie's many fake accounts to pimp his store. If the Bros want to check, the BM is saved.
