Iron Hill has done it again with their newest location in Phoenixville. It's right on Bridge Street, just down the block from the Steel City Coffee House. There are some nice artsy stores, a music store, and a cheese shop along the way, and it seems like the combination of Iron Hill and Steel City could really help the area grow. (It's too bad that Destiny Brewing closed so quickly).

Parking can be a little tough at times; and it feels a little bit tighter inside, especially at the bar - not that there's anything they really could have done about that, the space is what it is. The food and beers are excellent, and hopefully the service will pick up to their usual standards once they've been up and running for a bit.

There was a time I used to take my family to one of the Iron Hill locations almost every weekend... Phoenixville will make that even easier to do!

typical for the Iron Hill chain - clean, modern vibe, more restaurant than brewery. the beer selection is wide in style variety, and the beers range in quality from average to good. haven't had the food here.

On the streets of downtown Phoenixville. Large bar area, plus separate dining room. About 12 beers on tap, including the standard 5 plus a variety of rotators. The quality of beer here is usually very good - the standards are tasty and the sometimes the seasonals really hit the nail on the head. Bustling bar scene, very busy, but really good service. Love the menu here - broad, lots to choose from and very thoughtfully planned out. Good take home options too, some 25.4 bottles and of course growlers.

I love Iron Hill. Their food and drink selection are both very good. The beer selection varies widely, depending on what day it is, but their food is always fantastic. It's a little pricey, but the portions are large and the quality is always top notch.

Transcribed from notes dtd F, 10 Dec 2010.

My uncle and I were in town for Sly Fox's 15th Anniversary and it seemed as if a slight detour on the way home might be in order.

A long east-west running windowfront led to the entry at the corner of Bridge Street and Church Avenue and coming in, I passed the brewhouse on my left, followed by the m.d.s., then the lavatories and by turning right, the the restaurant area with its sea of standard tables and chairs. Just past the last of the tables was the busy kitchen.

Backing up, taking a right just before the m.d.s., put me in the bar area with the abbreviated "U"-shaped dark wood bar as its centerpiece. A shoulder-high partition divided the bar from the bar service area which sat in full view of passersby through the aforementioned long window. I am not a fishbowl barfly and so I took a seat at the bar near a friendly couple who saw fit to pick my addled brain when it was established that I was a beer writer.

Beers: Beyond the five (5) standards which I seldom bother with any more, they also had eight (8) CO2 taps, one (1) N2 tap and a cask going on the occasion of my visit. Variety is the spice of life.

Ambiance: It was a welcoming, clean, well-lit place for beer IAW company standards. I always enjoy visiting Iron Hill, no matter which location.

Return? Oh, yeah!

I went to this Iron Hill once. Parking was street only and was difficult. There were no nearby garages that I knew of. Once we arrived, we were seated immediately, which was nice. The atmosphere was not quite the same as other Iron Hills I've been to. It was much more cramped and loud. I definitively did not enjoy myself as much as I did at the others.

However, as I've come to expect from Iron Hill, the quality and selection of food and beer was very good and consistent. I do recall service was pretty good as well.

There always seems to be an abundance of "beer snobs"/ hipsters at any of the iron hill's I've been to.

The food is usually spot on (love the pizzas), and the service is mostly very good.

As an alumnus of U of DE, I've been enjoying their beers as long as I've legally been allowed to drink them. Pig Iron Porter and Anvil Ale have sentimental value beyond the usual ratings.

Overall, I enjoy going here. I'd rather go at an off time to avoid the crowds and just enjoy the food and the beers.

I visit the Phoenixville Iron Hill about 30 times a year and it is the most consistently excellent restaurant in all catagories in this area. The bonus for me is that Tim (Head Brewer) and Matt brew flavorful and interesting beers that they take pride in and are excited to talk about and share with their customers.

Two highlights for me are the Beltgian Triple and most recently the Rauchbeer...it has the aroma of an Islay Single Malt!

A beer destination will not make it in the long run on beer alone. Iron Hill in Phoenixville does it right in all areas in my opinion.

Stopped by last Thursday. This is the second Iron Hill I have been to and from a beer perspective, I do not understand why this place does not get more hype. They had five regular drafts on tap. Their specialty drafts were a rauch, roggenbier, triple, Belgian pale, and imperial pumpkin. The beers I tried were all excellent. The server I had was friendly and knowledgable. He did offer samples which is a plus. The food was good not great. I had a pulled pork sandwich, fries, and soup. The biggest detractor from this place is the fact that is that it is not cheap. While tasty, the prices are a good two or three dollars more than I would like to pay. Overall, this place has some of the best variety and quality of home made brews I have had. I will certainly come back for the beer, but I may eat elsewhere beforehand to save some money.

Was there primo time, Saturday night at 6:15 pm. We were able to make reservations on the internet, which was wonderful and convienant. We were seated promptly. It was packed.

Our server, JOEL, was excellent. As a BA and a homebrewer, I know more about beer than their average customer, and Joel was able to answer all questions and give us recommendations on the their current brews. Joel was even smart enough to ask for my American Homebrewer's Association card, which gave me a *sweet* 20% off.

We had the 8 beer sampler, and the Oktoberfest, and a pitcher of their GABF Vienna Red. I'm not superpicky about beer,I'm kinda slutty, so I'll say I enjoyed it all for what it was. I won't review the beers here, it's a restaurant review. I will say all the descriptions in print available at the table about the beer was accurate.

The food was excellent. We had the salmon rolls, the catfish taco and a pizza made with malted barley (beer, basically) crust. Everything was better than I expected, and very gourmet, great textures and flavors.

I highly recommend it. I wished I lived closer. I would go back again without hesitation.

I was visitiing Phoenixville with a friend and he said we had to hit this up. The beer was awesome, not the best I ever had from a brewpub, but a nice overall selection. The food menu was perfect, bar food...good culinary eats...everything in between.

We sat outside and the tales were lined up great. Not too close to each other, nicely designed. Also had a cool bar setup. The service was quick, never had to wait to long for a beer at all. It was very busy and everything was quick. I can't complain about anything I had there.

I always have an enjoyable experience going to this Iron Hill. The wife and I always try to get a window-side table in the bar area, as the dining room can get a bit noisy sometimes. Service is always excellent, and the staff always has pretty good knowledge of their beers. I have to knock them down some on their beer selection, however. It seems like they never have any IPAs or pale ales available, other than their house pale, which is ok... The rest of the beers are always Belgian and wheat dominated. The food is a little bit better than the rest of the area's brewpubs, with a wide variety of selections, and good value for the money.

Stopped by here on a Sunday with a few other BA's. Never been to one of the iron hills in all my years here in SEPA, odd, I know.

Iron Hill Pheonixville is a spacious brewpub with window seating, A big beautiful wooden bar, and a seperate seating area for larger parties. The look is modern and reminds me of a few other bars in the area. This place is clean and the brewing equipment is out in the open.

Well the quality is up there, fresh beer str8 from the source. I had the berliner Weisse, IPA, triple, and a few others. Simple straight forward styles that don't stray. Im bummed I missed the RIS but next time. All in all about 10 styles on tap and one nitro tap pouring a pale ale, that was nice.

Service was good. Up front, the bartender knew the styles and explained them well. The entire staff seemed friendly. No problems with samples if needed.

Selection is pretty much already stated, 10 taps of good on premise beer and a nitro tap. an array of styles from light to dark. Some bottles for sale to including a 2007 old ale and some B-wines & others. Growlers are available and sampler trays are also offered. Soda and other beverages for those not partaking.

The food was up there as well. I had some frites with some brushetta bites and other things I cant remember. Good presentation and great taste.

I like this place, i will come back and visit other locations.

The bar area is pretty much paneled with oak throughout, and the whole place has a clean, modern/trendy appearance. I went during happy hour, and pretty much every seat in the bar filled up without the bar feeling crowded.

There were 5 "house beers" that were regularly 4.50, but were 3 bucks for happy hour, which was nice. These included a light lager, english porter, raspberry wheat, a vienna lager and an APA. Then there were a few "seasonal" choices that included a hefe, a wit, an imperial stout, a triple and a few others. The bottle menu has a ridiculously expensive array 750ml bottles.

I had the Raspberry wheat, which was so-so, and the Pig Iron Porter, which was an excellent english porter.

The bar tender was prompt and friendly, offering me a sample of everything before I ordered a whole pint. He was friendly with all of the patrons, and seemed knowledgeable about Iron Hill's beers.

Good experience overall, I would come back here for sure. Happy Hour is the time to go: 3 dollar beers and half price appetizers. This trip I didn't try the food, but the next time I will.
