This is a massive liquor store. The beer here is conviently arranged into imports (plus a few American 750's) and American craft beer. The BMC stuff is on the other side of the store and nicely hidden from the thoughts of the beer advocate. Nearly all of the stock is in coolers, including their selection of 12-packs and cases. There is a mixed six-pack section, but unfortunately, the selection that is afforded is quite small. Service in the beer section was nil. No employees anywhere near me during my visit, though in such a large store, this wasn't unexpected. I'm not sure how the prices here stack up against other WI beer stores, but they were much cheaper (especially for wine and liquor) than what I'm used to in OH.

This is easily the best beer store in the La Crosse area. Located right off of I-90, it's pretty easy to get to. Huge craft beer selection with pretty much all breweries from WI and available to WI in stock. Very good prices and tons of solid beers to choose from. I found several remaining packs of Central Waters BBBW which I quickly snatched up. Lots of Ale Asylum and New Glarus as well as Bell's, Founders, Hoppin Frog, Oskar Blues, etc. Service was friendly and very helpful, just not real knowledgable in the craft beer area. One thing to note, they do not accept credit cards here. Cash, check, debit only, which can be a hassle. There is a nearby ATM, but with a $4 fee. I would definitely stop here again.

Stopped in here to pick up some NG fruit beers for the holidays. Up to visit family for a few days. So nice to see NG all over the shelves around here. What I wouldn't give to get them down in NC...Walk in the front and the beer is all over the left side of the store. The entire wall is dedicated to good beer. A great selection of singles to make a mixed sixer, lots of bombers, and an extensive list of sixpacks. All the usual suspects were there, Tyranena, NG, Capital, Rush River, Central Waters, etc. Among others were some great bombers from Goose Island and Boulevard. Six packs from too many breweries to name. Nice spot for great beer. All the beer is in coolers as well, which is always nice. Everything is ready for consumption right when you get home. Prosit!

Stopped here while staying in Onalaska on a business trip to La Crosse. The store is located on SR 16 not too far off I-90. There is a large parking lot.
The liquor/beer section is in its own section, with the beer being toward the left of the entrance. Much of it is in coolers, with some on shelves too.
The selection at Woodman's is pretty good. Brewers like Pearl Street, Central Waters, New Glarus regionally are represented, as are other domestic micros like Rogue, Sierra Nevada and Three Floyds. Some imports are available as well.
Service was pretty friendly but nothing too out of the ordinary for a store like this.
Overall this is a pretty solid spot on the outskirts of La Crosse.

This is my go to place in the La Crosse area for liquor stores. Gotta love grocery stores that sell good beer. This is what Minnesota needs right now! First off, the prices at Woodman's are better than any of the Festival Foods or small liquor stores in the La Crosse/Onalaska area. $6.99 for New Glarus sixers? I mean, come on! That's the best deal you're going to find in western Wisconsin. Decent selection too, mostly sixers and four packs. My one complaint about this place is that they could expand their bomber selection. While they do have some good bombers, it's nothing really special, and I would really like to see some FFF bombers in their coolers. Service is rated to average because while the people who work their are nice, they don't have many answers to questions and never seem to know when newer beers will hit the shelves. However, I did call ahead one time many months back and the person who I talked to on the phone kept some spare New Glarus bottles aside for me to pick up a few weeks later, which was really cool. The selection is good overall, but still not the quality of places in Hudson. But when I'm in La Crosse, this is always a must stop and my place to by Sconnie beer.

Stopped here today on the way to Perrot State Park.
Side entrance with "liquor" emblazoned on the building in big red letters. Similar layout to Oak Creek, where you have to walk throuh the checkout immediately past the entrance. Long open cooler on the left side of the store, that runs the full length and wraps around the back. First up were mixed singles, bombers, and import singles. Unique to this location was a stack of "Beer Man's Wisconsin" guides about local beer culture, which was cool to see. Next were macro imports and malternative junk, which was a disconnect from the extensive craft sixers further down.
Selection was good, though I didn't find what I was looking for: Dancing Man, Central Waters seasonals, Lake Louie (only Coon Rock ). Still there was unique stuff like Big Hole from Montana, locals like Pearl St., etc. Alpha King was here, but no other FFF. Decent if not a little spotty selection wise.
At the register the guy was quick. Noticed old timers buying cases of Hamms Light, Old Style, and Lost Lake. Close to the highway which is convenient.

Cheapest beer in town. No question. For price and selection, Woodman's beats Festival and Quillin's. A little distant for the campus crowd, but you make up for it in value. They have several top 100 beers: duvel, la fin de mond, belgian red, raz tart, etc. also they have the best 3 floyds selection in the coulee region. olberon mini kegs. pick 6 is mediocre, i prefer festivals. a whole of different sixers though. Also, macros up the wazoo at the cheapest prices you're likely to find anywhere. Occasional sale items, too, right by the door. They had 22 oz New Belgium 1554's for $1.99 a few weeks ago! Awesome beer and an awesome bottle to brew in. Value can't be beat. Only Bodega beats the selection.

I have been to two Woodman's Liquor Stores now and both have impressed me. The one in the La Crosse area is not quite the size of the Madison's eastside store, but it's still impressive nonetheless. Like the other store, there was plenty of beer in coolers lining the walls of the store. In between there is endless amounts of liquor that I never explored, but I would imagine is quite vast. A pretty solid section of Wisconsin craft beers, is toward the back left corner of the store, with a small sign outside the cooler grabbing your attention. To my surprise a couple Lake Louie brews had made it that far north. Aside from that the usual Wisconsin craft beers, there were plenty of out of state beers that I never really ventured into. Prices as usual were as good as it gets. 4 packs of CW Bourbon Barrel Stout for $9 and New Glarus Raspberry Tart and Belgian Red for $7.39, which is a dollar + cheaper than anywhere I go near home. It was impressive. I didn't see any Ale Asylum, which I did when I was in Madison, but New Glarus, Tyranena, Central Waters, and Sprecher among others were all there at great prices.
I never needed any service finding beers as I usually enjoy just browsing the vastness of these Woodman's liquor stores, but there were people moving around the store stocking shelves and what not. I doubt there are too many people there who could offer you a decent recommendation on a great beer to try, but I could be wrong.
To sum it up, if you have an hour to spend exploring, and come across a Woodman's in Wisconsin, don't pass it up. You might walk out a little lighter in the wallet, but you will be happy with the quality beers you get.

Great place for beer! And wine, and booze, and many kinds of food except a little lacking in the higher end stuff. Prices are great. Service is decent although if you put in a special order or send them a postcard they rarely follow up on it. As for the beer: Excellent selection (especially for the La Crosse area) of import, micro, regional and macro brews. Huge selection of single bottles and six packs, all chilled and ready to go. Also a fair selection of cases and other large quantiies. I assume they have kegs, but don't rely on that. Also they do carry seasonals and have a heavy selection of Wisconsin products.

Well I went here by recommendation from natasharai and I was actually quite impressed. Sure it was no beer sanctuary but for a guy that's never gone to Wisconsin just for beer or even thought about it I was impressed. Picked up plenty of DFH and Founders and some New Glarus in there too. Got a mix pack of New Glarus for something like 7.99. Not bad. I walked to the register only to learn they would not take my check card and that I had to go get cash from their machine but I was still more than happy to just because I was in awe of the beers that aren't available in MN. Came back and had a laugh with the lady behind the register. She boxed up all my beers and was friendly. I expected my total to be around 80 bucks but to my surprise I barely got over 40. Very nice. I am gonna be going back prolly once every couple of weeks. Impressive and recommended to MN boys.
