Good one!!! Poured a hazy brown into my pint glass. Lots of light coming through. Medium size tan head that fades fairly fast. Minimum lacing.

Good sweet malt and coffee aroma..strong, pleasant and very inviting.

Taste features the coffee.. strong coffee and cream presence. The malt profile is sweet and there must be a touch of bitterness somewhere that keeps the beer from being too sweet. Very tasty.

Mouthfeel is rich, smooth and creamy. Despite the 7.50 abv (totally unnoticeable), the tendency here is to take big swigs. Goes down very nicely.

Overall a well crafted lager. Smooth and rich.

A: The body is slightly murky. It is brown with desaturated hues of red. It looks a bit like red wine poured into sweet tea. The head starts out as a thin layer of white and quickly fades to a ring around the edge. Lacing is runny.

S: I wouldn't say that it smells like brewed coffee, but more like walking into a coffee house where they had just ground up some fresh beans. There is a difference in the scents to a person who is familiar with the two, but both are appealing nonetheless. Aside from the ground coffee bean scent, I don't pick up much more.

T: There is a nice mellow coffee flavor. Some very light earthy bitterness, but I emphasize light. I would have liked more flavor from what is found in a standard dopplebock. The aftertaste is exactly like the aftertaste of coffee.

M: The mouthfeel is wonderful. The beer has a pleasant medium presence that is still very light and uplifting.

O: I do recommend this beer, mostly to coffee drinkers. I think the appearance is very "dopplebock-ish" but the flavor is mostly just coffee. If a person is looking for a good dopplebock to drink, I would recommend they look elsewhere. This is a very good coffee flavored beer.

Appearance: dark rusty brown color, very little head that fades fast and little lacing

Smell: strong coffee predominantly, sweet and malty, it almost smells like a caramel macchiato with a wif of alcohol

Taste: coffee, as suggested is the predominant flavor. I also pick up the malt, sweetness, and a stronger alcoholic presence as typical of the style. There's very little bitterness as you would get with old coffee that's sat around or old iced coffee.

Mouthfeel: smooth with little carbonation

Overall: the coffee leads this beer and the dopplebock takes a back set, not that this is bad.

(copied from blog - written January 5, 2013)

Appearance – Pours into the glass an opaque reddish brown with a staggering thin white head.
Smell – Smells of vanilla and coffee and a slight caramel or brown sugar sweetness.
Taste – Definitely able to slightly taste the high alcohol content but that taste could also be attributed to the coffee beans.

The thing I love about this beer is that it reminds me of drinking an iced Irish coffee. It is a coffee dopplebock as stated on the label so obviously coffee is the driving force behind the flavor but as I said before you can slightly taste alcohol, then you add some vanilla cream and sugar and there you have it.

A: Slightly hazy, reddish brown with a light brown head. Very little lace and retention.

S: Obviously plenty of coffee in the nose. Some roasted malt and smoke and wood but mostly all coffee.

T: As in the nose, this is all coffee. Has the sweet, roasted malt presence of a doppelbock but most nuances of the style are masked by coffee. A slightly burnt coffee flavor but it isn't unpleasant. A bit more of the style comes out as it warms.

M: Super smooth, good coffee flavor, and the true essence of the style comes out when it warms. So let it warm up.

O: Pretty solid as a coffee beer but somewhat lacking as a double bock. But what would you expect with the addition of coffee? Still, an enjoyable beer.

I am not sure it's "beer" the label says 'malt beverage' so I assume there is some technical difference. (soory I'm not that smart.

Nice light fizzy texture, crisp, good coffeee taste and aroma.. missing actual beer tastes though, but it's quite a nice drinking beverage.
