Vintage 2016
Appearance: Pours coffee colored without carbonation; no lacing
Smell: Chocolate, Bourbon, vanilla and maple aromatics
Taste: It doesn't take long for the Bourbon to make a statement, subsuming the chocolate, vanilla and maple flavors; long and strong, with the Bourbon in the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with no carbonation; warmth in the gullet
Overall: Clearly well past its prime, but the flavors still don't seem well-balanced

snagged this in a recent swap. always a fan of dark horse and maple bourbon...? sounds good to me. had side by side with the bourbon 6 legs.
super powerful in your face barrel. the maple is glazed over big bourbon and oak, but I prefer the maple dominance in the 6 legs over this one which is just too heavy on the booze.

A: Very dark brown with light brown ring around head
S: Bourbon, charred oak, sweet chocolate, german chocolate cake, hint of raisin, vanilla, maple, brown sugar, bananas foster. Smells much more intense than an 8% beer.
T: Balanced bourbon, dry oak, bitter baker's chocolate, sweet maple, alcohol, roasty, molasses
M: Medium-heavy mouthfeel with a coating effect
O: Exceeded my expectations, the barrel character melds very nicely with the base. There is enough bourbon and roast to balance out any sweetness from the maple and malt.
Love that this is a 12 oz format!
