22oz. bomber into a Heady Topper stemless snifter.
Pours a 1 finger rich, white head with good retention. Beer is a clear copper. Lacing is thick and layered and spotty with great stick. Very nice looking beer.
Nose is coconut flesh, citrus, sap resin hop bitterness and cane sugar sweetness. Good balance. Moderately aromatic. Solid.
Opens sap hop bitterness. Some caramel, coarse brown sugar, citrus, and a biting hop presence in the middle. End is a slight bitter coconut skin at the end. Finishes resin and bitter with more of the same in the aftertaste. No real coconut flavor at all here. Not bad but certainly a bit disappointing.
Light to medium bodied with ample carbonation. Prickly and crisp in the mouth and goes down filmy and sticky. Finishes messy with a long, lingering aftertaste. Ok.
There was a fair amount of hype for this brew and honestly, it really doesn't live up to it. Just a regular IPA from Stone with almost no coconut presence. Skip this one.

I was honestly surprised by this beer. An IPA mixed with just the right amount of alcohol. The coconut was sweet but not too sweet and it helped balanced the bitterness level of this IPA. The coconut flavor reminded me of something you would taste in Almond Joy, it's sweet but acceptable. This is a really fun beer and I recommend it. I hope they rerelease it in the future.
