Reviewed from notes taken at Aces & Ales - Winter Beer Fest in Las Vegas. (1-20-13)
A - Pours black with 1 finger of light brown head. Spotty lacing left behind when it fades.
S - I'm struggling to get anything here, which is disappointing. Maybe a slight grapefruit hop aroma, but nothing else. Left searching for the espresso in the nose.
T/M - The taste confuses me honestly. I found the espresso that I was missing, but now it's over powering the hops. Some dark, bittersweet chocolate and burnt malts as well. But overall, very espresso dominant. Medium smooth mouthfeel.
O - Tastes more like a coffee porter than a black IPA with espresso beans. It's a good brew, don't get me wrong. The flavor profile just confuses me, and seems to clash more than blend harmoniously.

A - Pours a pitch black color with an extremely dense, thick, creamy layer of light toffee colored foam, the lacing clings to the side of the glass like glue.
S - The nose is dominated with expresso, cream, and dark roasted chocolate.
T - Heavy on the expresso, coffee bean, and dark roasted malt character. Coffee beans are present from start to finish, light oak, and finishes with a nice bitter roasted chocolate and coffee bean/expresso bitterness with some citrus added in.
M - Medium body and creamy smooth mouthfeel.
O - A solid beer, glad I had the opportunity to try it, worth at least one sample but not a stand out in the crowd.

Pours a clear deep brown with amber highlights and a half inch khaki head that dissipates to a thin film.
Aroma is reminiscent of pepper fruitiness, espresso, and roast malt.
Chocolate shines through, with lots of roast, coffee. Too much coffee for my liking, but clean.
Moderate to full body with moderate carbonation.
Too much coffee for my liking, but a good beer underneath.
