big ups to sarge27 for the trade...says enjoy by 2.15.13, i say, why wait? enjoyed via a spigalau glass.
a - brew poured a transparent orange with a finger or so of frothy classic ipa head that hung out and left chunky lacing. there was minimal but present visible carbonation swimming to the surface of the brew.
s - aw yeah, sticky sweaty citrusy hops. just the way i like it. i expected good things in the nose on this one after all it is a fresh stone ipa! i do pick up some of the onion smell that i have heard about as well, though not dominant.
t - soft hop assault. oniony citrusy hops. not as sticky and dank as the nose suggests, but there is some bittering on this one, but not the slap in the face i expected.
m - the first thing i noticed when i sipped the beer was the feel. very water like. there is carbonation for certain, but somewhat subtle making this one more of a hop juice than a beer, but it works.
o - overall, what would you expect? another solid ipa from stone. this time you don't have to worry about it being old though ;) i wish it was more like ruination 10th, that was a very special beer, but this is kinda like a lite version of that. softer and tamer and less dank. solid ipa, glad to have tried it...would definitely pick it up if i saw it on a shelf, but to trade for...might be happy with a one and done.

Enjoy by 5-17-13. Poured from 22oz bottle into captain Lawrence tulip. Pours a slightly reddish golden with a finger of white head. Really nice piney and fruity hop aromas with some great malty balance. Taste is crisp piney and citrus hops with a nice malt backbone to even things out...its smooth and easy especially for the abv. Really great DIPA....cant wait for the next edition!
