Notes:
We first released this decidedly indelicate beer in 2012, as Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our belovedly bitter Stone Ruination IPA. Stone RuinTen IPA uses the same recklessly hoppy recipe as the 2012 release; only the name has changed, as we plan to unleash this belligerently delicious hop monster upon the public annually from now on. We packed a whopping five pounds of hops into each barrel, and cranked up the ABV to stand up to the hop onslaught. The results are glorious, and we know you'll rejoice in tasting this audacious gem of hoppy splendor once again. You're welcome.

22 oz bottle.
Appearance: Pours a dark reddish golden orange color with a finger of a bubbly white head.
Smell: Smells of dank hops, fresh oranges, pine, a hint of tropical fruits and grapefruit. A tad of a malt backbone but mostly hops and the IPA smell you should expect.
Taste - Taste is WOW. HOPS. Jesus Christ. This thing surprised me and made me step back for a second. Hop bomb central. If you like hops, this is the beer for you. Wow.
Mouthfeel: Mouthfeel is good for the style. I don't taste the alcohol at all. Great for a 10.8% beer.
Overall: Overall, super hoppy beer. One of the hoppiest beers I've ever had. Great stuff.

A: Really nice looking filtered IPA. Bright orange/amber with an off white head with pale yellow hues. Decent amount of head considering the abv
S: Just huge and super dank. A powerful smelling beer. A lot of the west coast notes come through - big fresh sticky resinous pine and incredibly bitter grapefruit rind. There is some really dank astringency - musty overripe pineapple and mango. Some sweet pink grapefruit comes through with some orange juice. There is a sweet caramel malt backbone that helps balance it out.
T: One of the most substantial and vibrant tasting beers I've ever had. Exploding with hop bitterness - leaves a resin hop oil film in the mouth. Incredibly bitter grapefruit, resin and pine hit first. The middle of the mouth it has a citrus and tropical fruit explosion with pink grapefruit, mango, orange, and some pineapple. Really, really incredible.
P: Huge mouthfeel for the style but works perfectly. Pretty soft carbonation and silky smooth.
O: This is an amazing beer. So incredibly flavorful and over-the-top hop intensity - it's the culmination of American hop-assult beers.

Poured aggressively into a snifter giving way to a clear dark orange/amber body. A thick and creamy looking off-white head falls quickly leaving lacing and retains fairly well until the end.
The smell is full of hoppy goodness. Dank and resinous pine melds well with the peach, cantaloupe, and citrus fruit. Some alcohol vapor.
The flavor hits big with pine and grapefruit flavored hops. The alcohol is detectable but not distracting. There is some balancing sweetness from the malt that comes across a little crackery and bready. But this is really all about the hops.
Fairly big bodied for an IPA. It is smooth and creamy with an all encompassing pleasant bitterness. Dries out the palette and keeps you wanting more.
This feels comparable to the Enjoy By batch I had. A wonderfully big IPA. One bottle is not enough.

Well Stone, you have done it again. I thought you peaked with Enjoy By but I guess I was wrong. This beer is absolutely amazing. It's a Kung Fu kick to the palate. So much hop goodness and all balanced out by enough sweet malt to keep you coming back for more. If you are a fan of aggressively hoped DIPA's or just want to drink one of the best beers in the world, do yourself a favor and seek this out. You will not regret it. The best part is you will be drunk off of one bottle!
