First of all let me start off by saying that the name of to this beer TBA came from my good friend Passow (iamaguitargod) who is good friends with Matt Cole the head brewer over at Fathead's. I was quite excited when he told me he got to name this beer, especially a beer co-brewed by the almighty Stone! TBA stands for Texas Brown Ale. A 12 oz bottle poured into my pint glass, this beer pours a somewhat hazy/cloudy medium amber brown color. Nice tall, fluffy tan/off white head is over an inch tall when poured before settling to a nice thick ring lining the inside of my glass along with a nice film later of foam resting on the surface of the beer. Very nice lacing here. Aromas of fruit such as grapefruit, orange and mango, along with a piney hope smell, rounded out with sweet toasted caramel malt, a hint of brown sugar, molasses. The taste pretty much follows suit, a nice toasty caramel malt flavor with some hints of brown sugar and molasses along with a bit of honey, followed with a nice fruity, piney bitter hop flavor. Good balance of flavors, but the hop bitterness does come out a bit stronger than the other flavors. A very complex beer flavorwise! Has a crisp, slightly prickly, slightly chewy, full bodied mouthfeel with moderate to heavy carbonation. Easy to drink in the way good beer should be. One of these left me feeling very full and quite satisfied. A real winner here for sure!
