Bottle (2012)
The Bruery Provisions
Orange, CA
Very dark brown throughout with dark ruby edges and a very big brown head that erupts upward and over the edge of the glass. This is certainly very highly carbonated, especially for a brown ale. The head lasts for a substantial time and leaves messy, lined lacing down the glass.
Hoppy and bready aroma. There's lots of floral hop character--Citra? There's also good amounts of bread and earthy caramel as well. This is the best part of this beer.
The hops don't shine through in the flavor as much I was hoping for. This is a bready, earthy, moderately bitter brown ale, and little else.
Medium bodied and very highly carbonated. The carbonation seems prickly and extremely active. The mouthfeel brings this beer down a notch or two.
A decent enough, simple brown with way too much carbonation, especially for the style.
