A-Pours a very dark amber. It could be considered a stretch to call this a Brown Ale. Anyways, it seems fairly hazy and it boasts a magnificent head. Head is at least two inches high and doughy. The head retains masterfully; it sticks around to the point of annoyance because I am having trouble getting to the beer when I try to drink it. Great look.
S-Nothing like a Brown Ale in the nose. Nose is that of a well hopped IPA. Juicy, ripe, fruity and tropical hops. The hops remind me of both Stone and Bear Republic (haven't had Fat Head's before). Very hoppy. Behind the hops is sweet brown sugar and bread.
T-The flavor is more of a Brown Ale than the nose. Still, this beer is hoppy and pretty damn bitter. I could easily mistake this for an IPA. Tastes just like a hoppy Amber Ale. Enough malt (brown sugar and sweet bread) to attempt to balance out the big hops. As the beer warms the balance becomes more evident.
M-Medium bodied. Creamy feel. Dry and bitter. Carbonation is well set. Subtle but enjoyable bubbles.
O/D-This was a cool collaboration. 'More Brown Than Black' is by far the best collaboration in this series but this one is like a slightly duller version of the aforementioned brew. A hoppy, bitter "Brown". I like it a bunch! Hoppy for days.
