Pours dark brown...yes, more brown than black...and chunky! Loads of chunky hop residue in this unfiltered beer.

Nice head - about two fingers - nice lacing.

Love the nose, grapefruit, chocolate, all the pacific northwest hop thing going on.

Entry is crisp hoppy bite, then some chocolate malt, a hint of roast, grapefruity hops...but subdued a bit. Pleanty of hop flavor, not overly bitter.

At last! A black IPA aka cascadian ale that I really like. This brings the flavors together so well. Hoppy, flavorful malts, perfect belnd of the two. I have not really seen the need for this style before this beer. Add in the fact it is brewed by a few great brewers and it all makes sense!
