Pours a dark black color with a super dense foamy cap. Foamy cap lingers for a long while leaving tons of lacing. Aroma is a good balance of bright citrusy hops and sutle roasted malts. Hints of anise at ending. Taste has some powerful flavors like the intensely medicinal and herbal hops. Malts are complex with a well roasted bill with some coffee and dark chocolate to boot. Some alcohol warming also. This beer is quite thick and chewy slick even. Carbonation is just enough. Not a bad beer, takes some getting used to being a pretty powerful ale.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass.

Pours like a stout, with a nice tan head about a finger thick. Good lacing.

It’s got some coffee and licorice, but the pine and hops smell as well. Maybe a bit of caramel. An interesting mix.

Taste really confused me. It’s a light body, very smokey, almost ashy. Greets you with light coffee and finishes with a hop kick near the end. I couldn’t tell it was over 10%. Very powerful. Leaves a nice aftertaste.

Overall, it’s a very interesting beer to say the least. Very complex and very bold. Impressive.
