Poured into a dimpled English pub mug.
Dark chocolate in color with a nice one inch thick tan head. Ample lace with tight creamy bubble formation.
Smells of toasted nuts; aroasted almond quality. Coffee is huge in my nose along with some sweet maltiness.
Taste is dynamic and complex blend of rasted coffee, nuts, fig and coconut almond cluster cookie. Very satisfying shape shifting as it warms; even more blended flavors.
Very dangerously drinkable but look out this stuf will kick your ass.
Cheers!

Big thank you to Black13 for this long time want and all the other great beers!
Appearance. Pours a deep dark brown, pretty much black in the glass with 2 fingers of light tan head.
Smell. Slightly sour coffee and sweet nuts with dark malts and a bit of caramel.
Taste. Big coffee, again slightly sour and a little bit metalic. Dark malts follow with some nice nutty flavour in the finish. No booze to speak of.
Mouthfeel. Medium body, maybe a little lighter and medium+ carbonation.
Overall. A great Hawaiian combination going on here. Not the best coffee flavour I've tasted in a beer but a fun brew and so happy to finally have tried it. Thanks again Black13!

I've had this bottle for a couple of months now but can't for the life of me remember where it came from.. its from 09 so here's hoping its held up pretty well...
Huge aromas of dark roasted (almost burnt) coffee, tinges of coconut here and there.... mainly coffee... the aromas are nice... im hoping this is more balanced than the aromas would have me believe... no macadamia that I can detect...
Well, I was right... this basically tastes like an old tired burnt cup of coffee... bitter and harsh with the coffee flavors overpowering everything in sight... I was hoping the coconut and macadamia flavors would still be present but they're nowhere to be found... disappointing...
Im giving this the benefit of the doubt since its not necessarily fresh but this didn't do it for me...

I can't remember who sent me this one, as all my notes were lost when my computer crashed. If it was you, cheers for the trade!
From a bottle into a snifter
APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, medium looking, tan head with decent retention. Dark body, almost black, with no carbonation evident. Head fades to a half wisp and leaves some dots of lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Roasted malts, light coffee notes and some nutty aromas. Light tart cherries in there as well, along with a bit of funk. Great...
TASTE: Yup, she's infected. Tart cherries dominate the show, but there are some light roasted coffee flavors pushing for a stage. The infection is much more obvious than the nose. Bolder and lingering aftertaste is a competition between the tart cherry, brett infection and an trying, but failing, touch of bitter-sweet coffee and roasted flavors. It's not horrid, but definiltey not the point.
PALATE: Medium body and higher levels of carbonation. Prickly on the palate but it goes down alright, finishing with a touch of dryness.
OVERALL: Obviously infected. This review won't affect its overall score, but it will serve as a point of reference for anyone who may wonder. Stone makes great beer and I'd love to try this one again if I happen to run into it. Unfortunately Drain enjoyed most of this one.

Came across this in the back of the fridge. Great find on a Friday night! 12oz bottle into a snifter.
The beer pours inky black with a quarter inch of lovely mocha colored foam atop it. The head subsides leaving a ring of beige bubbles around the outside of the glass. The nose is a blast of coffee goodness with a bit of sweet roasted malt and nuttiness to it. Taste follows the nose with huge coffee flavors up front. Roasty malt flavors follow with notes of nutty macadamias and sweet coconut on the backside. The finish is semi-dry with a bit of hoppy bitterness which lingers. Very nice. Feel is medium with a low level of carbonation. What a great beer! The Kona coffee flavors in this one are incredible! The macadamia nuts and coconut add depth and complexity making for a wonderful porter experience. Wish I had stocked up on this one. Greg, if you're reading this, please brew this again and put it into regular production! Highly recommended!

Typical porter darkness with a fair sized brown head that, though not very deep, is persistent.
Aroma of high quality coffee with a hint of coconut.
The taste is very nice. Coffee up front followed by the coconut and at the finish, the macadamia takes over. This is a very smooth porter with a lingering coffee and macadamia aftertaste.
The mouthfeel is big and soft, like an imperial porter. They hid the alcohol very well. You would never suspect it was 8.5%.
Overall a very good collaborative effort. I've had this bottle for quite a while and I wish I had tried it while it was still being brewed. I could deninitely drink a lot of this.

I had a twelve ounce bottle of this recently. It was one of four three-brewery collaboration ales that Stone is involved in. It was not one of my favorites as it was little to much coconut.
Appearance is a very dark brown with a dark head that was not big but did stick around for a while.
Aroma was of strong coconut and coffee. A little too sweet for a beer for me.
Flavor as well was too intense on the extra flavors and didn't leave enough room to really enjoy the beer.
I would recommend it but I liked the other collab beers in this case better.
