look: 3.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4
Appearance: Slightly murky light orange with a fluffy white head
Smell: Initially hops with a mild mix of floral and doughy aroma
Taste: First the hops jump out but are quickly muted by the yeast kicking in. Pine and fruit flavors are balanced nicely.
Mouthfeel: Lighter and smoother than expected.
Drinkability: Very drinkable. Split the 22 oz bomber but could have easily enjoyed the entire bottle myself.

appearance: Clear gold-peach. Decent if non-descript white head.
smell: Very nice blend of fruitiness, and yeasty bread. A hint of strawberry sweet and just a hint of spice.
taste: Very nice again. Much like the nose. Fruity, yeast, some sweetness, a bit of spice.
overall: Stone knows IPA's. Really enjoyed this.

22oz bomber poured into a tulip.
A Pours golden, light orange, and fairly clear with about a finger of white head that dissipates within a couple of minutes. Beer clears after warming over the course of drinking. Decent amount of bubbles coming up through the glass.
S Light citrusy and pleasantly grassy hop aroma immediately followed by the smells often associated with a lower-phenolic belgian yeast. Some pear and green apple also noted. Very light and refreshing aroma.
T Citrus hop flavors of lemongrass and orange peel. Green apple peel (in a good way.) The yeast offers a noticeable yet delicate flavor to this IPA. Not an aggressively hop forward IPA. Very well balanced and sessionable.
M Good mouthfeel. Not too thin and not heavy or cloying. Dissipates quickly and leaves a brief hop bitterness on the back of the palate. Crisp and dry finish.
O Great beer. Would recommend and will certainly have again. Really enjoy the unique tastes associated with Stone fermenting their IPA wort with this belgian yeast strain. Makes for a great warm weather brew! One of my favorite things about Stone is their ability/willingness to brew great beer for a great price. Their bombers are usually $2-$4 less than the majority of other craft bombers without any compromise in quality.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on June 10, 2013.
The look is a handsome amber-gold with a delicate white head that sticks around for the session.
Fragrant nose of floral and earthy hops up front but then the Belgian characters kick in including the Belgian candied sugars, yeast strain, soft biscuit malts, and a slight citrus ester.
The body is around medium.
The taste is bother Belgian mellow with a hopped up bitterness. What I mean is that I get the roasted pale malts, nectarine and pear, warming subtle sweetness with a full hoppy and dry finale. I liked this "hybrid" for lack of a better word. It is one of the more interesting and unique IPA's I have tried.

Golden and fizzy.
You get the Belgian nose at first, but when you dig deeper, you can find some earthy hops. More grassy than citrusy, but they're there.
Take Stone IPA, take all the bite away, and you get Stone Cali-Belgique. Belgian yeast comes through and gives it a wheat-like finish at times.
I'm not upset I tried it, but I don't think I'd revisit this beer.
I like more over-the-top IPAs, and this certainly isn't it.
It's refined, and I'm sure it would appeal to people who don't enjoy beers with higher ABVs.
