A: poured into a snifter to a deep brown to black with a small tan head with minimal retention
S: smells like smoke, some roast and chocolate with a hint of vanilla
T: flavor yields some roast and smoke, chocolate, slight coffee, and a nice vanilla hint that rides nicely through the drink popping up without overpowering. swallow brings more roast and a bit more coffee plus a hint of smoke
M: slightly prickly carb and a very standard mouthfeel for a porter. dark but not heavy and not light
O: a nice addition to the regular smoked porter and a treat to try something a little different but not something that I will terribly miss.

P: Deep dark mahogany body with a thick frothy ice cream float top. Thick chunky lacing clings for life.

S: Rustic smoke, vanilla bean, cardboard, dark malt, milk chocolate, a subtle similarity to icy hot.

T/M: Taste follows the nose and creates a vanilla cream flavor with nutmeg and cocoa. Zesty medium body with a semi dry smoked finish.

O: A solid smoked porter that hits all the highlights. I've had the chipotle pepper version which was much better but there is nothing really wrong here.

Source/Serving: 12oz bottle

S: Smooth, bourbony alcohol-laced vanilla and dark chocolate are prominent. Hints of cola, marshmellow, fireplace ash. A little bit harsh overall, but has some uniqueness to it.

T: Slightly sweet cola upfront with a bitter chocolate note in the background. Vanilla comes through slightly. Almost immediately the smoke hits and its harsh, acrid, and largely unpleasant. Very intense and I like smoke beers, with quite an unpleasant burned/charred character. Rather than balance the sweet vanilla note it overpowers, clashes, and doesn't work at all. This does subside slightly halfway through the sip to reveal some bourbon, coffee and vanilla, whose sweetness is a respite from the harsh, bitter smoke and work nicely together, but this quickly gives way to a harsh, unpleasant ash/charcoal note which dominates the finish and makes the lingering flavor of each sip unpleasant.

Notes: A really harsh, awful brew and I'm a really big fan of this style of beer.
