Nearly black appearance, some red makes it way in. 2-3 finger tan head. Frothy lacing. Vanilla on the nose, immediately followed by a deep roasted, woody, almost leather-like aroma. Slight hints of herbal hops but not much.
Vanilla straight away on the taste. As with the aroma, it falls quickly into a deep roasted quality but all the while, a milky vanilla flavor stays throughout. Bitterness comes towards the finish, a combination of nearly burnt malts and herbaceous hops. Mouthfeel is medium-full with medium carbonation.
Nicely done. A porter that has a touch of interest and at the very least makes itself stand out from the mundane and regular offerings in it's style.

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip
A- Black with a three finger tan head.
S- Roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, smoky.
T- Lot of smoke and char, definitely in the finish, chocolate up front with some vanilla in the middle.
M- Medium body, good carbonation.
O- I was really hoping to for more vanilla and less smoke. I would like to try this fresher to see if it has more vanilla. Happy that I at least got to try it!
